The United Church Women
of Chiselhurst United Church
held their fall meeting with
president Mrs. Russel Brock
opening the meeting with a
poem followed by the theme
song and prayer. Mrs. G. Glenn
gave the worship, "The Common
Heart, " assisted by Mrs. T.
Brintnell, Mrs. H. Parker the
Stewardship, "Partners with God.'
The ladies set November 3
for their Fall Bazaar, and decid-
ed to paint the exterior of the
church. Mrs. Rose Harris had
the program. Meeting closed
with Prayer.
Mrs. Bertha Jinks will celeb-
rate her 88th birthday, Monday,
September 13, at the home of
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm,
Unit IV of UCW, Hensall
United Church, will hold their
meeting this Thursday, Sept-
ember 9.
Tony Gelderland, Ridgetown,
is visiting with Mr, and Mrs.
Sim Roobol for a few clays and
attended the funeral of Mr.
Archie Legerwerf at Parkhill,
Thursday,
Lynne Dodds, of Seaforth, is
visiting with her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol.
Ray McKenzie, Toronto,
formerly of Ilensall, is a patient
in Lakeshore Hospital, New
Toronto, recovering from injuries
he received in an accident,
when he fractured his arm and
leg.

The fall meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held Wed-
nesday, September 1, with a
good attendance, opened by
Noble Grand Mrs. Jack Taylor
Plowing match
At a directors meeting of the
Huron Plowmen's Association
held in McKillop Municipal -
Office, arrangements were
completed for holding the 1971
Plowing Match on October 9,
on the farm of Jamieson Ribey,
Lot 5, Con. 9, Colborne Town-
ship.
Arrangements were also made
co hold a coaching day on Friday
afternoon October 8, at the
same farm, when expert plow-
men will be on hand to advise
contestants on the fine points of
plowing.

and treats were sent out to sick
and shut-in members and friends
during the summer season.
Thank -you cards were read for
same. Plans are being made for
the installation of officers in

Apparently the firm is looking
for locations to drill deep wells
in the ground for a means of
waste disposal of material which
has caused contamination when
disposed of in the normal man-
ner. This new method has been
suggested by various governrnent
departments as a method of
avoiding further pollution.
In other business at their
meeting, the council awarded

the contract for the Forrest-
Thornpson drainage works to Ted
VanRoestel, of Woodham, the
closed portion, at $6, 020. 80,
while the open portion was
awarded to R. Nicholson Const-
ruction, of Sebringville, for
$4, 848.
Two tile drainage loans in
the amount of $11, 000 were
approved by council, under the
new tile drainage loan etc.
Accounts were passed for
payment as follows; general,
$1949. 59; drains,' $8, 272, 50,
and roads, $20, 985.86.
