A chemical fire extinguisher
demonstration will be given in
Zurich on Wednesday evening.
The purpose of the show is to
point out to the public the dif-
ference between the old steel
tank system, and the new chem-
ical system.
A very unique event took place
in the Lutheran Church on Satur-
day evening, when two daughters
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weseloh,
were united in marriage. Miss
Gertrude was married to Thomas
J. Getus, and Miss Selma was
married to William Schroeder.
The ceremony was publicly
conducted in the church, and
therefore a large number witnes-
sed the proceedings, performed
by Rev. J. H. Rembe.
The pig pen adjoining the
slaughter house in Hensall was
destroyed by fire last Tuesday
night, with 12 pigs being burned
to death.
Mr, and Mrs. Harry Arnold, of
Hensall, left on Friday for a
three-week automobile trip to
London and Toronto.

Andrew F. Hess and Harry G.
Hess, represented the Hay Tele-
phone System, at London on
Tuesday, when they attended the
Ontario Telephone Convention
held in that city. We congratul-
ate Mr. A, F, Hess who was el-
ected as vice-president of this
big association.

The Misses Florence and Ther-
esa Masse of the Blue Water High
way South, spent Sunday at the
home of Miss Phoebe Gelinas,
Goshen Line, north.

The Neeb family received a
terrible shock on Sunday when
their house chimney was struck
by lightening, and it travelled
down to their kitchen. Fortun-
ately they were at home, and
were able to quickly extinguish
the blaze. The telephone wires
were completely burned off.
Mr. Gordon Sewel, manager
of the Bank of Montreal, in
Zurich, held the winning ticket
for a lucky draw at Petrolia last
week, when he won a Marconi
record player and radio.
Mr. Blaise Ducharme, of Wind•
sor, is spending a two-week
vacation at the home of his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Duch-
arme.
Bill Siebert, Dr. W.Coxon,
Dr. A, Marshall, Jacob Haberer,
and Earl and Ivan Yungblut, were
in Detroit on Sunday for the day.
Lloyd Rader, of Dashwood,
was rushed to the hospital in
London, last week, where he
underwent an operation for ap-
pendicitis.

Rev. Albert Martin received
a telegram stating of the death
of Rev. Stephen Peachey at Pal-
metta, Florida, who was ill only
a short time. Rev. and Mrs.
Peachey, the latter being the
former Ruth Schrag, left this
vicinity some three and a half
years ago.
Plans are being finalized for
the Zurich Centennial Celebrat-
ions to be held July 1 to 4.
Misses Mary Geiger and Marg-
aret Schade were appointed del-
egates by the Evangelical U.B.
Sunday School to attend the
Convention held in Tavistock
this week.
Miss Arlene Haberer and Miss
Kathie Kalbfleisch were success-
ful in passing their first year
examinations at the University
of Western Ontario.
Mrs. Myrtle Horner who has
been at Granton for some time,
is visiting at the home of her
brother, Mr. and Mrs. Blake
Horner, 14th concession, and
renewing old acquaintances in
the vicinity.

Exeter Cub Pack last Wednesday
night.

ario Federation of Agriculture
continue to grow. Huron county
federation reports that it has
sold its 1000th membership in
the Ontario Federation of Agric-
ulture. The man is John
Rutherford, a young farmer from
near Wingham.
