With the end of the school
year upon us, a greater number
of children will be on or near
roadways. A concentrated effort
from local drivers to be extrem-
ely cautious when driving this
summer will hopefully prevent
accidents involving the children.
Durin the excitement of their
playing, children often forget
to look before mining onto the
road. Parents are also reminded
to properly supervise their child-
ren and instruct thein how to
cross roads safely.

A good lawn is an asset to
your home and fertilizer helps
keep the grass green and healthy.
Generally there are two types
of fertilizers for lawns, turf and
farm. Both contain readily sol-
uble inorganic and organic forms
of nitrogen. The turf variety also
contains slowly available forms.
It can be applied in a larger
amount at any one time than the
farm variety without danger of
burning. It will release plant
nutrients over a longer period of
time.
A recommended turf fertiliz-
er is 10-5-5 used at the rate of
20 pounds per 1, 000 square feet.
Distribute it uniformly. Avoid
leaving unfertilized strips and
don't overlap areas already cov-
ered.
