Day of Prayer
In Carmel Church
The World Day of Prayer will
be held this year Friday, March
5, in Carmel Presbyterian Church,
at 3 p.m. The theme is "New
People for a New Age."
The service of worship was
developed by a group of Women
from the Caribbean area including
Guyana, Jamaica and the Virgin
Islands. The service will be
under the convenorship of Presby-
terian WMS.
Mrs. Eric Luther will be guest
speaker.
Funds from last years offering
were distributed in Canada,
and around the world, to alleviate
poverty and assist refugees prog-
rams. Support was also given to
the production of Christian liter-
ature, ecumenical projects and
educational work.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Troyer
and Beth visited Sunday with the
former's daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Doug MacDonald,
in Sarnia.
Eleven tables were in play for
the successful euchre held in the
Lodge Hall, Thursday evening,
and sponsored by the CPT com-
mittee. Winners were Ladies,
Mrs. Roy Pepper, Exeter; Mrs.
Jim McAllister; Men, Jim Mc-
Dougall; Jim McEwen; Lone
Hands, Ed Munn; baskets of groc-
eries went to Al Hoggarth; basket
of apples, Mrs. Clarence Volland.
Regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held Wednes-
day with Noble Grand Mrs. Jack
Taylor in the chair, assisted by
Vice Grand, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley.
Date for March 24 was set for a
Dessert Euchre afternoon and ev-
ening.
A thank -you note was read
from the Local Association of
Guiding for the donation received .
The Vice Grand reported sending
cards to sick and shut-ins.
Obituary
RAY LAMMIE
Residents of Hensall and com-
munity learned with regret of the
passing of C. Ray Laramie, post-
master at•Centralia, and a former
native of Ilensall, wlio died in
Victoria Hospital, London on
Saturday, February 20. Ile was
in his 62nd year.
Mourning his loss are his wife,
the former Vera Dunn, one daught-
er, Jean, Mrs. Ron McLaughlin,
and one son, Robert, Exeter; two
sisters, the Misses Amy and Greta
Laramie, of Ilensall. Also two
grandchildren survive.
Funeral service was held from
the Ilopper- Hockey funeral home,
Exeter, on Tuesday, February
23, at 2 p.m. with interment in
Exeter cemetery. Rev. Robert
Wilson officiated, A Masonic
service was held at the funeral
home Monday evening, with
Lebanon Lodge No. 133, of For-
est in charge.

United Church Women Hold Annual
Meeting and Rally In Mitchell
The fourth Huron -Perth Presbyt-
erial Annual meeting of the
United Church Women was held
'in Mitchell on Wednesday, Feb-
ruary 17. The meeting opened
with a Hymn Sing. Mrs, Stewart
Miner presided and extended a
welcome to everyone.
Listowel Calvary U.C.W. led
the morning worship which was
well presented and an inspiration
to all.
Mrs, Harold Currie and Mrs.
John Gilbank informed the meet-
ing of the literature available.
The Perth District Health Unit
presented a panel of three, on the
"Effect of change on our Mental
Ilealth. "
The London Conference Annual
is to be held at Dundas St. Centre
Church, London, on March 16 and
17. Theme is "Listen, the World
Calls."
Greetings were brought at this
time from the Mitchell U.C.W.,
the Deanery and Presbytery.
Mrs. Stuart Shier presided for
the afternoon meeting. a medley
of gospel hymns on the violins
was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Harold
Bakensee introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. E. Egilsson, of
Woodstock. president of London
Conference U.C.W. Mrs. Egils-
son's text was 1 Peter, Chapter
2, verse 9.
She said that we as Christians
must see that our children have
Christian education, if we want
to have a congregation in the
future sitting in our church pews.
Our U . C . W .'s have to be more
flexible in their programs. We
must try and fill the needs of
women in our churches. We must
not forget the problems of our
brothers and sisters in other areas! I
The roll call revealed a good
attendance at this meeting. The
offering was taken and dedicated
by the Monkton U . C .14'. A duet
was much enjoyed at this time.
Mrs. Egilsson presided for the
election and installation of offic-
ers.
The closing worship was cond-
ucted by the Ontario Street, Clint-
on, U.C.W.
