HensaI1-Zurich Co_Ops Come Up
with Tie and Loss in weed's Play

In the past week of hockey
the Hensall- Zurich Co -Ops
collected two points as they
carne up with two tie games
and were downed in one game
by Mitchell.
TAVISTOCK 3 - CO-OPS 3
Last Thursday night the Hensall
Co -Ops travelled to Tavistock
and came home with one point
as they played to a 3-3 tie.
Neither team was able to
come up with a goal in the first
period as each team played a
solid game of hockey.
Tavistock took a two goal
lead in the second period with
goals by Brad Zehr and John
Mank. Before the period ended
the Co -Ops shortened the gap
as Dave Cyr scored on a long
shot from mid -ice.
The last stanza saw Zurich
score twice with goals off the
sticks of Brian Campbell and
Rick Schilbe. With 19 seconds
left in the game, Kevin McInt-
osh scored for Tavistock to fin-
ish the game a 3-3 tie.
There were 22 penalties called
with Tavistock drawing eight
minors, one major and one game
rnis-conduct, while the Co -Ops
drew 11 minors and one major.
MITCHELL 10 - GO -OPS 2
Last Tuesday night the Hensall-
Zurich Co -Ops travelled to Mit-
chell and were trounced 10-2 in
a very clean game, penalty -wise,
Zurich opened the scoring in
the first period with Ron Desjard-
ine scoring, but after that they .
fell apart. Before the first period
ended Jim Rolph and Dave Han-
non scored for Mitchell to put
them ahead 2-1.
In the second period the Co -
Ops saw their downfall, as they
allowed their opponents to score
seven times. Mitchell scorers
in the middle stanza were Glen
Nicholson with two goals while
singles went to Bob Garnochan,
Don Nicholson, Jim Avery, Don
Hislop and Dave Flanagan.
The third period saw the Co -
Ops start playing hockey again
as each team scored once. Bill
Hoy was the marksman for the
Co -Ops while Jim Rolph scored
for the Hawks.
There were only 11 penalties
called with Mitchell drawing
eight and the Co -Ops three.
Grand Bend Beats
Zurich Peewees

Monday night the Zurich Pee
Wee's lost their second game,
as they were downed 5-1 by
Grand Bend.
Grand Bend opened the scoring
in the first period with Cameron
Haist taking credit for the goal.
In the second period Grand
Bend's Steve Jennison put them
into a 2-0 lead, before Fred
Mommersteeg, of Zurich came
up with their only goal. Before
the period ended Kevin Datars
gave Grand Bend a 3-1 lead,
The final period saw Cameron
Haist and Steve Jennison score
their second goal each, to assure
Grand Bend of their victory.
Grand Bend drew four minor
penalties in the game.

Hensall 'Midgets
Down Zurich

Last Wednesday night the Zur-
ich Midgets were downed 5-2 by
Hensall.
.,y Zurich opened the scoring'in
the first period with Pat Bedard
scoring, Hensall came back
minutes later to tie the garne
and then went ahead 3-1 before
the period ended.
In the second period Gerald
Weido scored for Zurich to nar-
row the margin to 3-2. Hensall
then took over the game as they
scored two more goals before
the period ended.
The final period saw each
team play on evenly matched
game of hockey and neither
team was able to come up with
a goal.
