W, Haberer attended the bee- keepers Association Meeting at Guelph last week. Mr. and Mrs. C. Truemner, of the 14th concession, entertain- ed a number of their friends to a fowl supper last Thursday night. Mr. Joseph Sararas, of the Sauble Line, and his sister, Mrs. Henry Walper, of the village, attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Andrew Sararas, at New Hamburg, last Friday. A , G. Hess and Milton Dietz captured a wild goose last Friday The bird weighed almost 12 pounds. Mr. Dan Smith left on Monday morning for Goderich, Milverton, New Hamburg, and other eastern points. Mr. Oscar Klopp is attending the large UFO convention in Toronto, this week. Ward Fritz, of Kitchener, is spending the week at his home here. 40 Years Ago Reeve L. H. Rader is attending the December meeting of the Huron County Council at God- erich this week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hagan, bridal couple, who spent their honeymoon with friends at Dun- ville and other points, returned to Zurich on Tuesday. Their many friends here wish them a very happy married life. A very unique Golden Wedding Anniversary was held over the dinner hour last Sunday, Nov- ember 23, at the Eilber home, on Main Street, Crediton. The honoured couple was Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eilber. A couple of popular hunters, namely Wellington Johnston, Gideon Koehler, and Herb Mousseau of town accompanied by Ulric Snell, of Exeter, spent the biggest part of last week in the Camlachie district in an effort to shoot wild geese. They were successful and returned with nine fine birds. Sorry to report that Mrs. Elmer Oesch had the misfortune the other day to have her hand crushed badly by letting it run into the wringer of their elect- ric washing machine. - OF - YEARS GONE - BY- 25 Years Ago S,G, Sewel and family have moved to Zurich from Orillia, and are occupying the home ' owned by Mrs. F,C, Kalbfleisch. At the annual meeting of Hay Township Federation of Agricult- ure, William Davidson was elect- ed president for the coming year. Mrs. Kuno Hartman, of the Goshen Line, spent a few days in Windsor and Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith and his sister, Mrs. Vanatta, of Port Huron, had a pleasant visit at the home of their sister, Mr. and Mrs. William O'Brien. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gascho, of Emily City, Michigan, visited the former's brothers, Joseph and Christian Gascho, in Zurich. They were accompanied on their way home by Mrs. Barbara Buckler, of Blake, who intends to spend the winter months there. Ross Johnston, Gideon Koehler and Ray Fisher were visitors at Kitchener one day last week. 15 Years Ago Santa Claus will be presented at the Zurich Community Centre Saturday, December 17, when all the kiddies will be treated to some Yuletide entertainment. Misses Marlene Wagner and Marilyn Haberer, who are attend- ing Teacher's College at London, practiced teaching in Mrs. Menno Oesch's school, Bronson Line, the past week. Earl Oesch of Blake, and who has been barbering at that place for around a year and a half, has purchased the equipment and good will of the late Dennis Den- oinme, in the Mrs. F. Bender block. St. Peter's Lutheran Chrirch is displaying a fine Yuletide appearance. On the south side of the main entrance is a ply - board carving of the Bethlehem scene of long ago. Monday afternoon was nomin- ation in the Hay Township Hall, to fill the one vacancy of the Hay Township council. Only two names were nominated, Carl Decker and Oscar Klopp. Mr. Klopp signed his qualification papers and Mr. Decker withdrew his name not to cause an elect- ion. Jim Clark was returned to the office of president of the Hensall Legion Branch 468 for the second term, at their Christmas meeting last Wednesday in the Legion Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dowson, Varna, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a fam- ily turkey supper on Thursday, November 24, served in the Dominion Hotel, Zurich. Miss Iris Castle, missionary on furlough from St. Lucia Island, 500 miles from Trinidad, was guest speaker at the Christmas meeting of the Women's Miss- ionary Society of the Hensall United Church, held Thursday afternoon, December 1. Mrs. John Neeb, 47, the form- er Verda Burmeister, of Dashwooc passed away suddenly, at Welles- ley Friday, December 9, 1960. Parr Line Farm Forum met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Soldan with the topic for discus- sion "Consumer Protection."
