Mrs. Claire Deic'hert Elected
Presidnt of Lutheran Church Worsen.
Mrs. William Lawrence, Mrs.
Hubert Schilbe, Mrs. Percy Wil-
lert and Mrs. Marjorie Weido
were in charge of the December
meeting of the Lutheran Church
Women. Rev. Kalbfleisch was
the guest speaker.. In his opening
remarks, Pastor Kalbfleisch
stressed the importance of the
women in the church and his
admiration for the ladies and the
work they are doing. He outlined
the true meaning of Christmas
and its importance to each of us.
Cindy O'Brien and Barry Hess
favoured the group with piano
solos. Daring the social hour,
Mrs. Gordon Hess, on behalf of
the members presented Pastor
and Mrs. Blackwell with a gift
to show their appreciation for
the co-operation during the past
year.
Mrs. Prang presided for the
business meeting. Donations of
clothing, toys, etc. were
brought in for the Children's Aid.
The sick and shut-in boxes are
to be packed on December 19.
The ladies of the church are
asked to bring their donations to
the parsonage by noon Saturday,
December 19,
In addition to the regular mon-
thly offering, a special thank -
offering of $100 was received
to help our Synodical Budget.
Pastor Blackwell acted as
chairman for the Annual Meeting,
Mrs. Prang, the retiring president
in giving her report thanked the
ladies for their co-operation dur-
ing the past two years and out-
lined the activities of the past
year. A note of thanks was also '
given the retiring secretary, Mrs.
Vera Thiel. The executive for
the coming year are as follows:
South Huron Local of the
National Farm Union held their
social evening last Friday night
in Ye Old Theatre in Grand
Bend.
Winners of the beef draw
were announced as follows; 1st
prize, Mrs. A.L. Perry, of Woo-
dstock; 2nd prize, Joyce Moran,
of Lucknow; 3rd prize, David
Leasa, of Stratford.
Winners of the turkey draws
were; Dorothy Mellin, of Park-
hill, Ron Desjardine, of Dash-
wood, and Bill Dixon, Lucan.

tended the annual Stephen Town-
ship supper at Crediton, Wednes-
day, December 2. Others from
Dashwood present were Reeve
and Mrs. James Hayter, road
superintendent, Frank and Mrs.
McIsaac,
Lloyd Willert flew to Winnip-
eg Sunday and is attending the
National Farmer's Union Conv-
ention this week,
Mrs. Clare Love and Leanne
and Robbie, were guests with
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love last
week.
CHRISTMAS SUPPER
The "Luncheon is Served"
supper sponsored by the United
Church Women of Calvary Unit-
ed church was served by Mrs.
Gordon Bender's group. Follow-
ing supper Patricia Bender and
Susan Grigg played several ac-
cordian selections. The 1:luronia
choir entertained. Mrs. McCaf-
frey led in a rousing sing -song.
She also followed with a solo.
