Mrs. Gerald Martene and new baby have returned home from London hospital. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Penhale were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Newton, Jane, Robert, and Marian, Mr. and Mrs. Gord Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Don Clark, and Judy Kraft, all of London; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith, Susanne and Gary, Cor- unna; and Mrs, Amelia Willert. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan attended the gift show in Toron- to during the weekend. Mrs. Henry Becker is a pat- ient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. U,C,W, MEETING The September meeting of the Calvary United Church Wom- en was held Tuesday, September 15, with Mrs, Hugh Boyle chair - lady. She opened the meeting with a brief prayer. Mrs. Ken McGraie, convenor, accompan- ied soloist, Mrs. Jack Gaiser, as she sang "UP, up with People." The scripture was a responsive reading. Mrs. Boyle gave a reading on the. "Closeness of Family Life." The new United Church Creed was read with everyone replying responsively. Mary Lou Grigg favoured with several selections on her guitar. The film, "Beyond LSD" gave new insight into the problems we must face today. Carl Oestr- eicher presented the women with a tape recorder in memory of Glenna's active participation in the group. A minute of silence was observed in her memory followed by a prayer by the pres- ident, Mrs. Don Gaiser. An in- vitation to attend the November meeting at Zion United Church, Crediton was accepted. 4- H MEETING Club II of the 4-I•I girls met Tuesday September 15 with 12 present and leaders Cora Van- Raay and Mrs. Earl Keller. Elections of officers was held with president, Teresa liolobuw- itz, vice-president, Nancy Braid; secretary, Janice Hayter; press reporter, Sharon Rader. The project was discussed and notes given on keeping mentally fit. 0 Emmanuel U'CW Honor Nurse On Departure The September meeting of the Zurich United Church Wom- en was held on Thursday, Sept- ember 3, at eight o'clock in the church basement. With Mrs. M. Oesch as chair - lady, the meeting was opened by singing "Near to the heart of God." Mrs. N. Gascho read the scripture followed by prayer which was led by Mrs. W. Neel). Mrs. Beatrice Rader read a poem. Mrs. M. Steckle introduced .the guest speaker, Mrs. Snyder, from Stratford United Church. Mrs. Snyder spoke and showed slides about her work as mission- ary in a hospital in Baie Verti, Newfoundland. Miss Joan Rader, RN, daughter of Mrs. Beatrice Rader, gave a lovely talk about her personal life and her acceptance to serve as a nurse in a hospital in Bale Verti, Newfoundland. Joan and her girl friend plan to start their mission work in October. Mrs. A. Gascho thanked the speaker and presented Joan with a gift of money. Mrs. M. Mrs. Bullock presented Joan with a gift of money from the UC W, and closed with prayer. Wedding LEIBOLD - B EC KER Rev. Earl Steinman, officiated at the wedding ceremony when Diane Ruth Becker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Becker, Dashwood, was married to Ross T. Leibold, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Leibold, Zurich, at Zion Lutheran Church. The bride was escorted into the church which was decorated with baskets of gladioli by her father. She wore a white lace gown with empire waist, and lily point sleeves. The white net veil was held by a white organza rose and she wore a drop pearl necklace. Her flowers were pink roses and white carn- ations. Helen Leibold, Zurich, the bridesmaid, chose a floor length blue chiffon gown with white • embossed flowers. A blue veil with organza roses formed her headpiece. She carried an assorted nosegay. The music was provided by Janet Miller.
