ENTERTAIN AT HOME
The members of Hensall
Women's Institute entertained
patients at the Blue Water Rest
Home, Zurich, Tuesday even-
ing, September 15, providing a
delightful and enjoyable program
which included numbers on the
electric guitar by Ray Jacobi and
piano by Ms sister Sharon; solos
by Wayne Payne; 'reading, Mrs.
Elizabeth Riley; and a poem by
Mrs. James McAllister, presi-
dent of the Institute, who chair-
ed the program. Lunch was
served by the Institute.
AMBER REBEKAHS
The regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held Wednes-
day night,' September 16, with
Noble Grand Mrs. Elgin Thomson
in the chair,
An invitation was received
from Monkton Star Rebekah
Lodge to attend the installation
of their officers Friday, October
23. The invitation was accepted
The installation of officers of
Amber Rebekah Lodge will be
held Wednesday November 1,
when the District Deputy presi-
dent, Mrs. Gerald McFalls of
Exeter, and her installing staff,
will induct the officers.
Members will attend a banquet
at Exeter, November 9, to honor
their assembly president, Miss
Audrey Miller, Ottawa, and
Ivirs. Gerald McFalls of Exeter,
D.D.P. , of district 23.
Mr. and Mrs. A . E, Howe,
who have spent the past week
with the latter's sister, Mrs. R.
M. Peck, left Friday to visit
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Statham, and
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Elder, of
Kingsville, on their way to their
home in Tucson, Arizona.
Mrs. Vic Stan, Mrs. W. H,
Bell, and Mrs. Clarence Reid
are attending the Legion Aux-
iliary Convention being held at
Niagara Falls this week. They
will return home Thursday night.
Mr. Laird Mickle returned
home last Saturday from St.
Joseph's Hospital, where he had
been a patient for a month.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lindsay
and family, of Ingersoll, were
weekend visitors with Mrs. John
Henderson.
Mrs. Bertha Jinks has sold her
home on King Street to Keith
Vivian of near Mitchell. Mrs.
Jinks will make her future home
in Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Haugh,
Exeter, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley,
and Mrs. Annie Reid , Hensall,
and Mervin Taylor, of London,
attended the funeral of the late
Mr, William Taylor, held Sat-
urday at Red Lake.
Charles Mickle, Hamilton,
and Arm Midkle, of Toronto,
spent the weekend with their
parents Mr. and Mrs. Laird
Tvlicl:le.
VARNA NEWS
Anniversary service will be
held in the United Church next
Sunday, September 27, at 11
a.m. , with Rev. D. Beck, of
Bayfield as guest minister. Spec-
ial music by the choir under the
leadership of Mrs. Douglas Mc -
Ash.
A smorgasbord supper will be
held in the basement of the
United Church on Wednesday,
September 30, under the ausp-
ices of the UCW.
Mrs. John McAsh is at present
a patient in Clinton Public Hosp-
ital.
Mrs. Florence Joynt returned
to South Huron Hospital Thurs-
day of last week, after spending
almost a month in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London.

Obituary
WILLIAM TAYLOR
Word was received of the
death of William (Bill) Taylor,
who died suddenly in Red Lake
Hospital, on Wednesday, Sept-
ember 16, following a lengthy
illness. Ile was formerly of this
area and was 64. Ilis wife is
the former Betty Switzer, who
survives him, together with
three sons, Bob and Stewart,
Merritt, B.C., and Mervin,
London; two daughter Phyllis,
Mrs. Lorne Haugh, Exeter, and
Mary Anne, at home; two sisters,
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, and Mrs.
Annie Reid, Ilensall. Funeral
service was held Saturday, at
Red Lake.

Messengers Meet
At Zurich Church
The Messengers of Zurich
United Church met In the
church for the September meet-
• ing.
After singing a hyrnn, prayer
was led by the pastor, Rev.
Huether. The boys and girls
went to the basement for their
'lesson period.
• Scripture was read by Martha
Neeb. The theme for the fall
was introduced "How the World
Gets Around." The offering
was taken up by Steven Grainger.
The Messengers were informed
about Miss Joan Rader R.N. who
will be a Missionary in Bate
• Verti, Newfoundland.
The story "White House on
.the Corner" was read by the
,leader, Mrs. E. Truemner.
Some riddles were read by Doug
Corriveau, Sylvia Neeb, Debbie
Horner and Edward Neeb.
Poems were read by Brian
Horner, Jane Huether and Mar-
tha Neeb. After the last hymn
was sung the boys and girls
signed a card for their leader,
Mrs. Don O'Brien, who is in
the hospital with a baby boy.
The meeting was closed with
prayer.
The next meeting will be
held the third Sunday in October
at 10 a.m.
