Zurich Citizens News, 1970-08-20, Page 7THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 1970 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS PAGE SEVEN Huron -Perth Separate School Board Let Contract and Make Appointments At their regular meeting last week, Huron -Perth Roman Cath- olic Separate School Board approv- ed a contract with Huron Auto- motive Limited, Goderich, for transporting students from colborne Township to St, Mary's School in Goderich; and pupils to St. Joseph School in Kingsbride, The board has now settled with 14 of the board's 15 transportation contract- ors for the school year. Only Ex- eter contract is to be completed. The board has allotted $200, 000 for transportation in it's 1970 bud- get. Five new school zones have been formed within the two count- ies between June 1 and August 8 according to a report made by Tack Lane, Business Administrator in presenting a progress report from Ed Rowland, Dublin, ass- essment officer for the board, Total additional assessment obt- ained and converted to separate school support amounts to $405, 000. The new school zones are in the following townships: two in Goderich, one in Morris, one in Ellice and one in Logan. Three more zones are being surveyed for completion on or before Sept- ember 30. The board appointed trustees Vincent Young, Goderich; Ted Geoffrey, R,R, 2, Zurich; and Jack Lane to attend the Ontario Separate School Trustee Assoc- iation and Bishops Educational Committee meeting in Toronto on August 19 for the prtrpose of considering educational part of supplementary submission made to Iron. John Robarts regarding assistance to catholic secondary schools. The board learned at the meet- ing that the installation of the six new portable classrooms rent- ed from General Coach, Ilensall, will be completed by August 20. One will be located at St. Pat- rick's School, Kirikora; three at St. Janes School, Seaforth; one at St, Joseph's School, Clinton art one at St, Boniface School, Zur- ich, The board accepted the tender of Laverne 1leywood, Exeter, to paint three classrooms at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, R. R, 3, Dashwood, for $650, This was the lowest of three tenders. The tender of James P. Kraus- kopf, Dublin, was approved to relocate water services from St, Patrick's Church to St. Patrick's School in Dublin for $68. Trustee Ted Geoffrey was auth- orized to have a protective screen placed over a window in Ste. Marie School, St. toseph, The window is in the principal's office which overlooks the playing field, He reported new windows are be- ing installed at the school at the present time and other repair work is being completed. Trustee Chris Walraven, St. Mary's, was authorized to arrange for repairs to window sills at I-Ioly Name School in St. Marys. The next meeting is to he held on September 14 when it is ex- pected to have the initial present- ation of a survey by Kyles and Kyles, Stratford, architectural firth. Agreement was reached that rental groups be classified in one of three areas: Croup A which is exempt from any cost for using school facilities; Group B which can rent school facilities at a preferred rate; and Group C which will pay the commercial rate, Group A consists of 12 general categories including those act- ivities sponsored by the board or by groups of teachers or students connected with the school system; meeting of other board employee organizations; activities of the Home and School Association; general meeting of Community Health Associations, such as Public Health Associations, Assoc- iations for the Mentally retarded, cancer society etc.; regular meet- ings of Boy Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies, 4-11 groups, Junior Far- mer Clubs etc. ; public meetings related to county school board and municipal elections; com- munity functions sponsored by local community recreational commissions; lectures, vacation Bible schools that are open to all children regardless of church aff- iliation; assemblies sponsored by local organizations when there is no admission charged, no col- lection taken, etc.; municipal council meetings; and meetings under the sponsorship of the office of the Ontario Department of Agriculture and Food. Group 13 includes emergency services or meetings of churches and Sunday schoolsl non-public dances sponsored by teenage clubs for their membership; drama grout that are non -student sponsored; community concerts; dancing school and music school recitals; adult activity and recreational groups sponsored by other than a recognized community recreat- ional commission; industrial etit- ployee organizations; industrial or business athletic groups and leag- ues; political meetings of a non- unmicipal election nature; and concerts, dances, travelogues etc., sponsored by service clubs and other local non-profit organ- izations where the admission charge is used to help defray ex- penses and/or for charitable work in the community. Croup C includes functions sponsored by local organizations and clubs when operated on a commercial basis; functions of a commercial or advertising nature; and all other groups not included in Groups A and 13.
