Gingerich's Sales and Service had to fight from behind on Wed- nesday night as they met the Farmers' Union in Rec League softball play. The country crew led 2-0 after two innings, and then Gingerichs' tied it up in the fourth on singles by Lostell, Gascho, and Parsons, and a Farmers' Union error. Both squads scored four times in the fifth to tie up the game at 6-6. On the sixth frame, the Farmers' Union outscored their opponents 2-1 to lead 8-7. How- ever , owever, pitcher Richard Shantz struck out two batters in the last inning to retire the Farmers with- out giving up any more runs, and then Gingerichs' went on a four - run spree to win the game 11-8. First baseman, Lloyd Lostell had a double among his three hits as he led the Gingerich hitting attack. Two hits came off the bats of James Ramer, John and ' Glenn Gascho, and Don Parsons, while Norm Koehler, Richard Shantz, Gary Gingerich, and Fred Wells had one single apiece. Glenn Overholt and Phil La- porte carried the heavy bats for the losers as they each slugged out two hits, two doubles for Overholt and one for Laporte, while Willie Overholt hit out three singles. Andy Durand added two singles and pitcher Gerald Shantz hit a triple. BLUEWATER DUMP LEFTOVERS The Bluewater crew evened their season's record at three runs and three losses as they defeated the Leftovers, who have manag- ed only one win over the season this far. It was a close game throughout until the BP's exploded for 13 runs in the sixth inning. Brian Hodgins was on the mound for the Blue - water crew and picked up another victory while Randy Decker took the loss for the Leftovers. Phil Overholt and Shane McKin- non pitched the Barbers to victory while Rick Schilbe and Kevin McKinnon shared the pitching chores for Charlie's Auto Sales.
