Winners in Rec League Softball
GINGERICHS' EDGE FARMERS U.
Gingerich's Sales and Service
had to fight from behind on Wed-
nesday night as they met the
Farmers' Union in Rec League
softball play.
The country crew led 2-0 after
two innings, and then Gingerichs'
tied it up in the fourth on singles
by Lostell, Gascho, and Parsons,
and a Farmers' Union error.
Both squads scored four times
in the fifth to tie up the game at
6-6. On the sixth frame, the
Farmers' Union outscored their
opponents 2-1 to lead 8-7. How-
ever ,
owever, pitcher Richard Shantz
struck out two batters in the last
inning to retire the Farmers with-
out giving up any more runs, and
then Gingerichs' went on a four -
run spree to win the game 11-8.
First baseman, Lloyd Lostell
had a double among his three hits
as he led the Gingerich hitting
attack. Two hits came off the
bats of James Ramer, John and '
Glenn Gascho, and Don Parsons,
while Norm Koehler, Richard
Shantz, Gary Gingerich, and
Fred Wells had one single apiece.
Glenn Overholt and Phil La-
porte carried the heavy bats for
the losers as they each slugged
out two hits, two doubles for
Overholt and one for Laporte,
while Willie Overholt hit out
three singles. Andy Durand added
two singles and pitcher Gerald
Shantz hit a triple.
BLUEWATER DUMP LEFTOVERS
The Bluewater crew evened
their season's record at three runs
and three losses as they defeated
the Leftovers, who have manag-
ed only one win over the season
this far.
It was a close game throughout
until the BP's exploded for 13 runs
in the sixth inning. Brian Hodgins
was on the mound for the Blue -
water crew and picked up another
victory while Randy Decker took
the loss for the Leftovers.
