News Along The Shore of Beautiful Lake Huron
Readers will be saddened to
learn of the death of Mr. Alfred
Ducharme, who passed away at
St. Joseph Hospital, on Monday,
July 14.
Mr. Ducharme, who spent
most of his 92 years living along
the Bluewater Highway will be
'greatly missed by his many friend;
and we would like to take this
opportunity to offer our sincere
sympathy to his wife, and family.
Mr. Ducharme was the corresp-
ondent for this newspaper for
many years and kept readers in-
formed of local happenings and
made the column interesting and
varied with his colourful and pict-
uresque writings.
Mr. and Mrs. LeGendre and
family, of Detroit are at their
cottage near St. Joseph, and
have motored to Montreal for a
few days.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Morrison and
family of Toronto are at their
cottage at Denomme Drive,
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Denomme,
of Kitchener , and Brenda Rau, of
London, were home for the week-
end at the home of their parents
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Rau.

Beach, returned to her home in
Royal Oke, Michigan last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. David Jeffrey
and family, of Detroit, returned
to their home after spending a
couple of days at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Jeffrey.
Mr. and Mrs. James Hogg Sr.,
of Vancouver B.C., are visiting
their son and his family, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Hogg, and girls in
St. Joseph.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kuzmick
and family, of Brantford, and
Mrs. Kuzmick Sr. of Austria,
were weekend visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Charrette.
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Jeffrey
of Detroit, were weekend visitors
at the home of Mrs. Sara Jeffrey.
Visitors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Peter Jeffrey for the past
week was Mrs. Jeffrey's sister,
Mrs. Ann Armstrong and family.
Visitors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Pete Ducharme, were
Mr. and Mrs. Isidore Denomme,
Mr. and Mrs. Don Ducharme,
from Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mernivedgc
of Detroit, were at their cottage
at Ducharme Beach.
Mr, Victor Ducharme is a pat-
ient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter. We all wish him a speedy
recovery and home -coming.
Miss Sarah Ducharme, of Lond-
on was honoured at a bridal show-
er given by Theresa, Linda, Elaine
and Evelyn Jeffrey, Sunday after-

noon at St. Peter's Hall. Guests
played bingo and were served a
delicious lunch. Miss Ducharme
was the recipient of many lovely
gifts.
A little excitement occurred
Thursday evening along the Blue-
water, when a sail boat operated
by Mr. David Collyer, of Toron-
to, overturned two miles out in
front of his cottage at Sunset Cove
at 4;30 p.m. Mr. Collyer drift-
ed out from St. Joseph Beach
where he was finally towed into
shore at 8:30 p.m. by Ricky Cant -
in and Victor Brisson, of Detroit
and John and Peter Jeffrey, of
St. Joseph.

THE WINNER
A resident of Florida, Kevin
Bowman, was the speediest walk-
er in the big Waikathon held last
Saturday for the Missing Piece
Coffee House. He made the 14 -
mile trim, from Zurich to Grand
Bend, in less than three hours.
Kevin is a former resident of Zur-
ich, and is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Bowman.
