Post Victories in Rec League Ball
GINGERICH'S UPSET
The Bluewater BP'S came up
with their second victory of the
year with a surprising 14-12 win
over Gingerich's Sales and Service
In the second inning, the winners
exploded for seven runs to chalk
up a 7-1 lead, but Gingerich's
fought back to trail by only one
run at the end of the fourth. How-,
ever, they were held to two runs
n the last three frames and were
unable to catch the Bluewater
crew.
Dave Durand punched out three
singles, while Peter Jeffrey, Brian
Hodgins, Gerard Charrette, and
Ron Overholt had two hits each,
including a home run by Overholt.
Isidore Laporte and Tony Den-
omme added single hits to the
winning cause.
Losing pitcher, Richard Shantz
hit a homer among his three hits,
while James Ramer, Wayne Horn -
sr, John Gascho, Gary Gingerich,
Lloyd Lostell, and Glen Gascho
had two hits apiece for the losers.
Brian Hodgins, a new addition
to the Bluewater club, picked up
:he victory on the mound.
F U DUMP CHARLIES
In the second upset of the night,
the newly -formed Farmers' Union
team sent Charlies Auto Sales
down to a 9-8 defeat in a close,
heated contest. Charlie's took an
early 1-0 lead, but the Farmers
Union went on a six -run spree in
the third inning, and then added
their final three runs in the fourth
The losers fought back hard, es-
pecially in the last inning as they
carne within one run of tying rhe '
game, leaving a runner on third
base.
Don Masse punched out a homer
to lead the winners, and Gerard
Overholt, Phil Laporte, and
Gerald Shantz added the other
three hits.
Pete Regier and Paul Corriveau
each had three hits for Charlies'
while Ray Finkbeiner, Gerry Rader
and Gary Flaxbard added the
other hits.
Gerald Shantz was the winning
pitcher, while Gerry Rader and
Kevin McKinnon shared the pitch-
ing chores for the losers.
BARBERS WIN FOURTH
The Barber Boys scored their
fourth win in five starts as they
dumped the leftovers in a lopsided
game. The Leftovers did hold the
lead in the early part of the cont-
est, but they were soon overpow-
ered by their polished opponents
and ended up on the short end by
a 26-7 score.

Zurich Midgets
Lose to Goderich
Sunday afternoon the Zurich
Midgets hardball team again fell
into the hands of Goderich, as
they were downed 13-9 in a lop-
sided victory.
Zurich took a three run lead in
the top half of the third inning
only to see Goderich come back
with two runs to tighten the game
up again.
In the fourth inning Zurich only
managed to bang in one run and
then Goderich rallied for five, to
put them in front 7-4. The locals
managed to knock in two runs
but again Goderich came back
with three to make it 10-6.
At their last chance to prove
themselves, the locals rallied for
three runs only to see Goderich
come back with three once again
toend the game at 13-9.
Don Oesch went molt of the
ame on the mound for Zurich,
>eing relieved in the last inning
by John Mommersteeg. Gary
MacKellan went the whole game
or Goderich.

Missionary Speaks
At Local Church
B. Frank Byler, missionary to
Uruguay under the auspices of
Mennonite Board of Missions,
Elkhart, Indiana, will speak at
the Zurich Mennonite Church, on
Monday, July 13, at 8 p.m.
Up to the time of their present
furlough, Mr. Byler served as co -
pastor of the Floresta Mennonite
Church in Montevideo; did evang-
elistic and church extension work
throughout Uruguay; and taught
at the Evangelical Mennonite

Bylers, originally sent to Argent-
ina in 1947, were reassigned to
Uruguay in 1962.
Byler, a native of West Liberty,
Ohio, graduated from Goshen
College and Goshen Biblical Sem-
inary. In 1966 he received the
Th. M. degree from McCormick
Theological Seminary.
Mrs. Byler, the former Anna
1-Ialiman of West Liberty, Ohio,.
graduated from Goshen College
with a degree in Education. The
Bylers have five children, four
of whom are either studying or
working in the United States.
