Wedding

Peace Lutheran Church, Exeter,
was the setting for the marriage
between Donna Irene Walper,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Walper, Exeter, and Norris Wayne
-Desjardine, son of Mr. andlylrs,
Norris Desjardine, R,R.1, Grand
Bend.
Rev. Earl Steinman performed
the ceremony before candelabra
and bouquets of white daisies.
As the organist, Miss Helen Nad-
iger, played " The Lord is My
Shepherd, " the bride was escort-
ed down the aisle by her father.
She was gowned in an empire
style weeding dress of nylon lace
over white taffeta. She wore a
blue locket and carried red roses.
The maid on honor, Pam V an-
derwiel, Kippen. and the brides-
maids, Laura Cornell, Denfield,
and Connie Gibbings, Clinton,
wore flowing blue chiffon dresses
with white trimmings and acces-
sories, which were complemented
by blue net hats trimmed with
white and blue flowers. Their
bouquets were of white daisies
and blue cornflowers.
A cousin of the bride, Cathy
Gibbings, of Clinton, was flower
girl and Douglas Mason, cousin
of the groom acted as ring bearer.
Louis Desjardine was best man
for his brother and Ron Walper,
brother of the bride, and Ron
Mason, cousin of the groom,
were ushers.
The bride changed to a blue
and white dress with white acces-
sories to travel to points north
where the couple honeymooned.
Weekend visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Rau were
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Denomme, of
Kitchener, and Brenda Rau of
London.
Miss Cherie Jeffrey accomp-
anied her sister Mrs. Doris Mern-
ovidge, of Detroit Wednesday,
and returned home Friday to
St. Joseph with Mr. and Mrs.
Mernovidge, who will be spend-
ing a week at their cottage at
Ducharme Beach.
Weekend visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Jeffrey
were Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Jef-
fre and Denise, Linda and Ray
Jeffrey, and Sara Ducharme, all
of London.
At their cottages at Cantin
Beach, St. Joseph, and visiting
their mother Mrs. Valerie Cant -
in were Mr. and Mrs. Pierre
Cantin and family; Mr. and Mrs.
John Paul Cantin, and family;
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cantin,
and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ricky
Cantin, and family; Mr. Oliver
Cantin and son Charlie with
friend Greg Czarnecki.; Mr. and
Mrs. Andre Cantin, and family,
all of Detroit area.
Mr. and Mrs. Vince Jeffrey
and grandson Wayne were week-
end visitors at the home of Mrs.
Sara Jeffrey.
Gary Jeffrey son of Mr. and
Mrs. Pete Jeffrey returned for a
holiday to Detroit with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Corriveau
and family spent the weekend at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Luc-
ien Corriveau, and also at their
son Leo Paul Corriveau.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kelly and
family spent Sunday at Mr. and
Mrs. Lucien Corriveau's bringing
their daughter Julie home after
a week's vacation visiting rel-
atives in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bossenberry
and family, of Detroit were
weekend visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bossenberry,
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Corriv-
eau and family, of Windsor, are
spending this week at a cottage
in the area, and are visiting
friends and relatives.
Visitors at the home of the
elderly Ducharmes over the past
week were from Windsor, Blaise
Ducharme, Cyril Ducharme, Mrs.
Tyrus Stansberry, and Sister
Rosalie
The Sisters from the Convent
St. Charles, St. Joseph, have
all returned to the Mother House
in Chatham from where theywill
be sent to different areas ofthe
country. In honor of their time
spent in this area, the school
children of St. Mary's School,
held a going away party to show
their appreciation. Everyone is
going to miss the Sisters, and
we wish them much happiness
and future success in their new
homes.
Monsignor Bordeau of St.
Peter's Parish, suffered a mild
heart attack last week and is
now a patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London.

under the boat. This was an old
rubber boot. Besides, there were
no rainbow, speckled or bass in
this lake.
After five minutes of praying
that my rotten line, un -used for
two years, wouldn't break, I
caught a glimpse of him, and my
suspicions were confirmed. Just
a dirty big sucker I'd probably
hooked by the tail.
Oh, well, I had to get my lure.
So I dragged him up, my partner
netted him, and with considerable
chagrin I discoverd I'd caught a
51 -pound lake trout. -Sneaky dev-
ils go for the bottom instead of
coming up and fighting.
Another hour without a touch
and we decided to move into the
other secret lake, where the big
speckled are. After a vicious 60 -
foot portage of sorts, which left
me gasping like a trout out of
water, we were on it. Again, a
completely lonely little lake,
wooded to the water, with not a
cottage or water-skier in sight.
My partner took a 101 -pound
lake trout as the sun went down and
total peace reigned. IIe didn't
like to, but he was forced to
smile as he ].aid it down beside my
"big one."
A nice day. Two.strikes, two
lakes, two fish. And my wife
nearly died of shock when I walk-
ed in holding thein,
