St. Marie School
Makes Donation to
Special Project
Well-known Canadian broad-
caster Betty Kennedy sent a let-
ter to Sister St. Mark, Mrs. Lil-
liane Laporte and Sister Jean Mar-
ie, of St. Marie School, St. Jos-
eph, this week to give thanks for
a contribution received for "Pro-
ject Schoolhouse." The three
classes donated $125.57 to the
roject.
The funds will help build a
chool in the Commonwealth Car-
bbean Island of St. Vincent as
ntario's International Education
Year project. The United Nations
designated 1970 as IEY year, to
help promote better understand-
ing between peoples of the world.
Mrs. Kennedy is Chairman of
The Minister's Advisory Com-
mittee on Educational Assistance
which was established by the
Hon. William Davis last year.
The committee stresses that
the drive for funds is a pennies
and nickels program. Chartered
banks throughout the province
are co-operating in the project
by making collections from
school principals, and are offer-
ing receipts ea the spot.

BY LARRY SNIDE R
When asked how many feet were required to stop a vehicle
at 30 mph, one student answered, "Two feet. One for the
brake, one for the clutch."
.* * *
Studded tires become less effective after 5000 miles; but
new ones stop 20% sooner on ice.
Why the need for head restraints? Because there were 4
million whiplash injuries reported for 1968 alone.
The average speed of a vehicle travelling on an interstate
highway is 62.8 mph.
* *
More than half the vehicles in the world — about 111
million — are registered in the Western Hemisphere.

Your car is one of these and you can be sure it's one of the best
if you bought it at Larry Snider Motors Ltd.
