News Along The Shore of Beautiful Lake Huron
Along the Blue Water Highway
there is an air of expectancy
these clays. Farmers are begin-
ning to ready their equipment
to get back on the land, and
their trucks can be seen travel-
ling from the towns loaded down
with sacks of seed and fertilizer.
With the sun shining on the
weekend, familiar faces appear-
ed from near and far to seek
out their cottages and to dis-
cover if the long, cold winter
had spared their plumbing and
wells.
On Monday the east wind
made a clean sweep, carrying
the ice and slush away from
the shores of Lake Iluron and.
again the clear, blue water
could be seen. Spring is here
and although it is still a chilly
facsimile of the sunnier to
come everyone's spirits are lift-
ed in anticipation of the long
warm days ahead.
Visitors at the home of Airs.
Sara Jeffrey this past weekend
were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mern-
avidge who motored from their
home in Detroit with Miss Sher-
ri Jeffrey who had been visiting
with them.
Mrs. Sara Jeffrey enjoyed a
lovely birthday supper at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Ducharme and visited with her
god -child Sister Rosalie of
Chatham.
Mrs. Valerie Cantin is spend-
ing the week in Detroit with her
family and grand -children.
Fun Night For
Kippen East W
The losers of the roll call
contest of Kippen East Women's
Institute treated the winners to
a delicious pot luck dinner at
Mrs. Charles Eyre, on April 9.
Those with perfect attendance
were; Mrs. Hoggarth, Mrs. R.
Broadfoot, Mrs. Kinsman, Mrs.
Connolly, Mrs. Ken McKay,
Mrs. S. Pepper, Mrs. Triebner
and Airs. Drummond.
Airs. Alderdice received the
prize for having the nearest
anniversary.
After a few contests and gacme:
some of the ladies remained to
play cards and the rest enjoyed
a very hilarious game of bowl-
ing. High score, Mrs. Kinsman;
second, Mrs. Alderdice; low
Mrs. McGregor and Mrs. Drum-
mond.
Mrs. Antoinette Bourque has
returned home from a visit with
her sister Ann in St. Clair, Mich
Mr. and Mrs. Jim llogg mot-
ored to Inglewood and Toronto
where they spent a few days
this past week combiningbusin-
ess and visiting friends, ut
were happy to return to the
fresh Bluewater air after the
smog of the big city.
Visitors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Corriveau last
weekend included Mrs. Corriv-
eau's sister, Mrs. Tony Masse
and husband from Goderich, and
brother Mr. Pete Ducharme and
wife.
Air. and Mrs. Dennis Durand
and children were weekend vis-
itors at the home of their resp-
ective parents Mr. and Mrs.
Philip Durand and Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Charrette.
Motoring from Stratford were
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rau who
also visited with their parents
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Denom-
me and Mr. and Mrs, Andrew
Rau, for the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Jef-
frey motored to London on Sun-
day last with Dir. and Mrs. Pet-
er Jeffrey and family and spent
the day with Mr. and Mrs. Pat-
rick Jeffrey and Mr. and Mrs.
Nap Ducharme.
The excitement of an N.H.L.
play-off game lured Fred Mom-
merstee of the Blue Water High-
way and -three other avid fans
from Zurich to travel to Detroit
where they witnessed the Sun-
day afternoon game between
the Detroit ked Wings and
Chicago Black hawks.
Terry Rau, son of Mr, and
Airs. Andrew Rau has received
his diploma in meat cutting
from Conestoga College in Kit-
chener and will commence
duties as a meat cutter at Al's
Super -Save in Ilensall this com-
ing week.
Visitors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Frecl Ducharme Sr.
were their sons Aubert and
Blaise from Windsor and Anthony
from Tecumseh. Sister Rosalie
who spent the past week helping
to care for her mother, has ret-
urned to Chatham. Airs. Tyrus
Stansberry from Grosse Pointe,
Mich, who has also been caring
for her mother was joined by her
husband on the weekend. On
Saturday last, an optimistic son,
of the senior Ducharmes (Avila)
arrived at their home with his
tractor and with the help of the
other members of the family

potatoes. Mr. Ducharme be-
lieves his is one of the earliest
crop plantings and only time
will reveal the result.
On Monday afternoon the
children from Grades 5, 6, 7, and
8 of St. Mary's school paid a
visit to the Purification plant
of the Ontario Water Resources
Commission where they toured
the premises and found their
trip most interesting and inform-
ative.
Mrs. Florence Denomme is
a patient in Westminster Ilosp-
ital in London and was visited
on the weekend by her husband,
Garfield and slaughter Gail. We
hope she will soon be well and
able to return home.
In the South Huron Hospital
in Exeter is young Marc Creces,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse
Creces who is under observation
after a fall from the loft in
their barn. We also wish Marc
a speedy recovery and Home-
coming.
We would like to thank the

Mr. Ducharme has a big

years of writing, he also thanks

arme. We are certain these two
brilliant young girls, as corresp-
ondents, will give the readers
of the Citizens News a weekly
budget that the public will en-

Hear Reports at
Regular Meeting
The Women's Missionary
Society was held at Carmel
Presbyterian church, Monday
evening, April 13.
President Mrs. R. A. Orr open-
ed the meeting with a poem
"The motto of a friend, " and
read a prayer from the Glacl
Tidings. Devotional and study
was given by Mrs. Malcolm
Dougal and Mrs. Glen Bell.
A piano solo of "How Great thou
Art, " was played by Linda Bell,
slaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob-
ert Bell, R,R.2, Kippen. Sec-
retary Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.

Twenty-eight visits were made
to the sick and shut-ins by mem-
bers.

ing to the Annual Synodical
which will be held in Paris, Ont-
ario, on April 21 and 22.

8:15 p.m. with devotional and
study to be given by Mrs. Harry
Snell and Mrs. Grace McEwen,
