HOUSE LEAGUE STARS - One star was picked from each of the teams involved ih the House League action at the Minor Hockey day in Zurich on Saturday. Bible Society Showing a four percent in- crease over 1968, contributions to the Canadian Bible Society in Western Ontario showed a total of $91, 778.83 for 1969. Other income to the Society amounted to over $80, 000 from bequests and $31, 000 in an- nuities, making a total income of $203, 311.85 for the past year, advises the London office of the Society. During the year the Society, whose district president is Stephen R. Byles of London, enjoyed the support of the 175 active Branches in South West- ern Ontario. Generally speak- ing the response from the smal- ler communities was relatively more generous than in the ur- ban centres. The contribution from Zurich District for 1969 was $610., as compared with $460., in 1968. In 1969, the detachment invest- igated a total of 243 accidents, compared to 202 the year be- fore. Three of the accidents in- volved fatalities, compared to two the year before, while 133 persons were injured in 1969 compared to 131 in 1968. Property damage in 1969 was a total of $151, 370., while in 1968 it was only $132, 283. The only thing down in 1969 was the number of charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act. They totalled 785 compared to 860 in 1968. In contrast, there were 19 criminal code charges laid in 1969, while there were only two in 1968. Of the 1, 420 occurrences in 1969, 80 charges were laid under the Provincial Statutes and 111 charges laid under the Criminal Code. Stolen property for 1969 amounted to $3, 502 of which $281.00 was recovered. In 1968 there were only 908 occurrences. To Discuss Joint !Board of Health I (continued from page 1) , matter of amalgamation but that any satisfactory agreement would involve equal representat ' ion from both 1-Iuron and Perth counties. The Perth Board has asked for six members with Huron having only five members. There also has been indications that Perth would like to see the offices located in Stratford. Huron County favors locating the office in a more central location to both counties. Sea - forth has been mentioned on several occasions. A hearing was held January 13, in Toronto establishing the Canadian Union of Public Em- ployees as bargaining agents PAGE NINE for all staff of"the Huron County Health Unit with the exception of the Health Medical Officer. The county is attempting to have the director of nurses and the chief public health inspect- or also exempted from the con- tract. As well, the county would like to have two union contracts proposed, one for the nursing staff and one for all other employees of the health unit. Donnelly and Murphy are acting on behalf of the county in the union negotiations. It was learned that the public health nurses at Clinton are now quartered in a house adjacent to the nurses' residence at an annual rental of $2, 400 plus telephone and caretaking.
