Plans Completed For Big Winter
Carnival in Hensall on Weekend
All road lead to the village of
Hensall this weekend, where
members of various organizations
in that area have combined their
efforts to produce their annual
Winter Carnival. The proceeds
from this year's winter carnival
are• ear -marked for a very worth-
while cause -- renovations to
the Hensall Arena.
Activity at the Winter Car-
nival gets under way on Friday
night, at seven o'clock, when
three Hensall Minor Hockey
teases, the Novice, PeeWees
and Bantams, will play host to
teams from Aclastral Park, Clin-
ton. Later in the evening, judg-
ing of the candidates in the
"Snow Queen" contest will take
place, and the winner. will be
crowned at the Carnival Dance
in the arena auditorium. The
Bluewater Playboys will be sup-
plying the music for the dance.
The Hensall Western Horsemen
organization are supervising
the Ftiday night dance and
crowning of the Queen.
Activity in Hensall resumes on
Saturday afternoon, wneri a
large parade kicks off the pro-
gramme. Snowmobiles and
numerous floats have already
been entered for the parade,
and efforts are being made to
secure the services of the Sea -
forth District High School Girl's
Trumpet Band to add colour to
the event. Hensall Kinsmen
are supervising the parade.
Throughout the afternoon on
Saturday, following the colour-
ful parade, there will be a
heavy schedule of novelty and
timed snowmobile events. Snow-
mobile rides will also be avail-
able to those wishing them.
Don sl-Iousseau and Bob Caldwell

. events.
On Saturda afternoon there
will also be free skating for
everyone, at the arena. The

A feature of the Saturday

under way at 8 p.m. Prior to
this the Hensall Tykes will
play in house league action,
and the Ilensall Mites will en-
tertain the Clinton Mites,
Following the action between
the two service clubs, the Ilen-
sall Midgets will play hosts to
the powerful Exeter Midgets,
in a *rude gaaue. There will
also be bingo in the arena
auditorium, for those wlso
prefer the warm indoors to the
cooler climate of an arena.
The bingo, which will be oper-
ated by the Ilensall Kinsnseu,
will be an a share -the -wealth
basis.
During the afternoon on Sat-
urday, judges will be at work
viewing the MOW sculptures
throughout the village, for
which the Ilensall council are
awarding prize money.
A highlight of the Sunday
afternoon program at the Ilen-
sall Arena will be an OHA
Junior 1) nockcey game, between
the Lambeth Flyers and the Zur-
ich Dominions. This is a reg-
ularly scheduled game in the
western grouping of the OHA,
and is a ciucial tilt for the Zur- •
ich club, who are still fighting
hard to regain second position
in the six -ream group. The
game, which commences at
2 p.m. sharp, is being trans-
ferred to the Hensall Arena
through the co-operation of the
management of the Zurich
junior hockey club, to assist in
snaking the winter carnival a
huge success.
Also raking place on Sunday
afternoon will be more snow-
mobile events, and following
the hockey game there will be
a burning of Christmas trees at
the park.
All the hockey events at the
carnival are bein supervised
by the Ilensall Minor Athletic
Association, with Iry Elliott in
charge.
