Barber Boys Elimiate Bluewater
From Rec League Playoff Picture
(by Gary Flaxbard)
What started out as a very close
match between the Bluewater
Boys and the Barber Boys on
Sunday afternoon, turned out
to be a lop -sided victory for the
favoured Barber Boys in Zurich
Rec Softball League semifinal
play,
The first two innings ended in
a 2-2 tie, as Rick Jeffrey, mak-
ing his first pitching appearance
for the Bluewater in several
weeks, was able to hold back
the Barber Boys.

Gingerich Crew
(by Gary Flaxbard)
Last Wednesday night, pen-
nant -winning Gingerich's
s squad
fell by the wayside in the Rec
League playoffs as they lost
their third consecutive semi-
final game to Charlie's Auto
Sales. Charlie's came up with
a fine team effort, both in the
field and at the plate, and be-
hine the solid pitching of Kevin
McKinnon, chocked up a 13-3
win.
The winners scored runs in
every inning but the fifth and
the eighth, while McKinnon
held his opponents scoreless in
all but the fourth frame when
he and temporary reliever Rick
Schilbe ran into trouble, and
Gingerich's scored three runs.
Gingerich hurler, Rick Shantz,
gave up total of twelve hits to
Charlie's; three to Gary Flaxbard,
two to Rick Schilbe and Rick
Turkheim, and one to each of
Ray Finkbeiner, Dave Stark,
Pete Regier, Jerry Rader, and
Randy Decker.
Gingerich's eight hits came
from Tony Bedard with three,
Rick Shantz and Clifford Ging-
erich with two each, and James
Ramer with one.
