Throughout the holidays from
week to week visitors at the
Sopha home from Detroit, Mr.
and Mrs. William Camaree and
family, grandchildren of the
Sophas, also other grandchildren
were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Sopha of Detroit; from Grand Bent
Mr. Arnold Desjardine, an old
friend of the Sophas' from Mount
Carmel, Mr. and Mrs. John
Mahoney and lastly at the Sopha
home was a sister, Mrs. Alice
Denomme; and from Zurich,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Deitrich
and family. We might also
mention that both of the elder
Sophas are at their home improv-
ing well we hope, and with the
care of their maid, Miss Melvina
Geiger, we wish them a speedy
recovery. Also visiting were
Mrs. Lawrence Sopha of Detroit,
Mrs. Bernice Waldreau, Mrs.
Donald Baier, Mrs. George
Baier, also Mrs. John Mark of
Detroit. The Sbphas had many
callers and visitors during the
summer holidays.
The past weekend visitors at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Ducharme were Mr. and Mrs.
Karl Deitrich of Kitchener on
their return from Port Huron,
where they had spent part of
their vacation. On the past
weekend at the Ducharme home

and Mr. Denis Ducharme, with
Miss Theresa Ducharme. From
Grosse Point, Michigan were
Mr. and Mrs. Tyrus Stansberry
after returning to their home
after holidaying in the southern
states for three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Williams
and family of Windsor have
rented the farm home of Mr.
Max Jeffrey, of the 15th concess-
ion, to spend a part of their
vacation. It being a quiet place
to sit around under shady trees
and relax or travel on to the lake
for an occasional dip to cool off.
We hope they will enjoy them-
selves during their holiday.
On Monday evening last callers
at the Ducharme were from
Port Blake, Mr. Fred Gratton
also Mr. Sirus Gratton of that
surroundings, and Mr. and Mrs.
J. Homles of Arkona. The
Grattons are cousins to the
Ducharmes. It was pleasing to
meet with them and renew
youthful incidents of many years
ago.

"Nine Years on the Road" which
was written by Mr. Ducharme

Gingerichs Win
13th Rec Game
Gingerichs Sales and Service
ended their Zurich Rec League
softball schedule with their
thirteenth win in fifteen starts
as they defeated last -place
Bluewater by a 28-9 score and wo
the Rec League pennant.
Surprisingly enough, the game
was very close until the sixth
inning, and the Bluewater Boys
were leading their first -place
opponents 7-5 at the end of the
fifth. However, Gingerichs came
to life in the last three frames,
scoring ten runs in the sixth, five
in the seventh, and eight in the
eighth to earn the victory.
Glen Gascho was the leading
batter for the winners with six
singles and a double. Winning
Ditcher Clifford Gingerich added
live hits, Lloyd Lostell, four,
BRAVES DEFEAT DODGERS
The Braves defeated the
Dodgers in Zurich Minor Athletic
Association sott ball play on
Monday, August 14 by the score
of 2'1-11.
Two Braves notched four runs
each. They were Wayne Oke
and Leo Debt's. Two of Leo's
runs were home runs. David
Cyr and Joe Kenda scored three
times for the winners and the
other runs were divided between
Doug Eckel and Rick Bedard with
a pair each.
The Dodgers score card was
not well recorded but we think
that five runs were scored by
Pat Bedard, four by Wayne
Meidinger and one by Tom
Stark and Paul Buckingham.
