John Zettel has sold his house

Little, of Hensall.
Lambert Klopp, son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Klopp, of Zurich,
arrived home from overseas last
week. He had served in the
American Army, as an engineer.
Private William Gossman and
Sergeant George Gossman, both
of Dashwood, arrived home from
overseas last week where they
had served with the army,

AUGUST 1929
Leonard Prang and Elzar
Mousseau were on a fishing
expedition to Sky Lake, north of
Wiarton, and they report the
outing most successful,
On Friday the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Owen Geiger, Hensall, was
the setting for the 50th wedding
anniversary of the couple.
Gilbert Jeffrey, of the Blue -
water Highway, Stanley Township
has quite a curiousity in the
shape of a freak colt, having
only three legs. The colt, which
is doing quite well, has two hind
legs and only one front leg.
James Kilpatrick, who is work-
ing on the barn of Dr. Moir,
near Hensall, had the misfortune

to fall and injure his leg, which
will keep hint from work some
time.
Margaret and Jean McQueen
and Sarah Manson, all of Hensall,
have returned to their home after
vacationing with their cousin,
Ray Reid, in London, for some
time.

AUGUST 1944
Gunner Donald Restemayer, of
Prince Rupert, was a visitor for
a few days at his home in Dash-
wood, and with other friends in
the area.
E. M. Dagg, who has been
manager ofthegBank of Montreal
'in Zurich for the past number of
;years, has received word that he
his being transferred to the branch
at Lucan, and will leave in the
next few weeks.
A new runway is being built at
'the airport .at St. Joseph, for the
convenience of planes wishing to
land and take off again.
Miss Mae Smith has left for
London where she will resume her
duties in the technology depart-
ment of Victoria Hospital, after
enjoying a month's vacation at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. C. L. Smith, in Zurich.
The large public weigh scales
of L. Schilbe and Son has been
moved from their coal yard in
Zurich to their storage shed on
Victoria Street, which will be a
great benefit to anyone wishing to
use them.

AUGUST 1954
The Kalbfleisch Mills in
Zurich are this week giving their
employees a vacation, and this
will enable engineer, Herb
Uttley, to put the steam engine
and boiler back into perfect
working condition.
The 10th annual Lions Club
Frolic was held in Zurich on
Civic Holiday and attracted a
crowd of well over 1200 people.
The lucky winner of a draw on a
television set was Kenneth Weido,
of Zurich.
At a meeting on Tuesday night
in Hensall, a contract was award-
ed for the installation, of artificia:

Elizabeth and Emma Finlay,
daughters of Mr, and Mrs. Harold
Finlay, of the Town Line near
Blake, were struck by lightning
during a recent severe thunder
storm, Fortunately neither of
the girls were seriously injured.

At a special meeting of the
Hay Township School Area
Board on Mondaynight, it was
revealed that of32students in-
volved in the SS 14, which is
being closed, 21 will attend sch-
ool in Zurich and the other 11
in Hensall.

The annual Hoffman family
reunion was held• Sunday at
Turnbull's Grove, with an
attendance of 155.
Mrs. Elizabeth Madiger, a
resident of Dashwood for most of
her life, passed away in Howell,
Michigan, on Tuesday at the
age of 84,
The council of Stephen Town-
ship plans a meeting with the
trustees of Dashwood, Crediton
and Centralia, 'regarding the
establishment of a building law
for each municipality.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Meyers have
returned home after spending
an enjoyable nine -day trip to
Quebec, Ottawa and the Laurent -
tans.
