Miss Anne Kathryn Taylor,
R. N., B. Scn. , daughter of
Mrs. Letta Taylor and the late
Dr. R. Hobbs Taylor passed
away at Victoria Hospital,
Thursday, July 31, after a
lengthy illness. The body rested
at the T. Harry Hoffman funeral
home where service was held
Monday, August 4, with Rev. D.
A. Warren officiating. Pall
Mr. Scrabuik, to build a new
porch; General Coach Works to
carry out extensive renovations
to rhe interior of the plant;
Cook Brothers Milling, renovation
and general improvements;
Lewitt Clarke, renvations to his
home,
E, R. Davis was called on for
his monthly report. He informed
council that the streets had been
patched and the boulevards cut
for the second time this year. He
asked permission to purchase two
steel post ten feet long and about
two inches in diameter. He was
granted permission to purchase
posts and more patching equip-
ment to repair some damaged
roads. Property committee is
to visit the dump ground and
decide on gravelling the road at
the top of the household dump.
Davis asked that he might take
his vacation some time during
the month of August and stated
he had secured the services of a
man to replace him for that
period. Council informed Davis
that a drain near the corner of
Brock and Main Streets is in
poor condition and ordered hint
to have sante investigated and
repaired. The drain on Richmond
Street North will be extended in
the next few weeks from its exist-
ing limits to the property of
General Coach Works.
Council was concerned about
the drain on Mill Street, which
has been excavated and supposed,
ly repaired several times, and
agreed that the said drain must
be in good working order before
bad weather sets it.
Harold Knight reported briefly
for the Fire Committee and
stated that it was unfortunate so
much publicity had been given
from the July council meeting
as it had done great harm. Ilow,
ever, he did feel that an agree-
ment would be soon forthcoming
from at least one township. A
new clutch has bean installed on
the present fire engine and re -
bearers were Gerry, Glenn,
Ronald and Hobbs Guenther, Ted
Webb and Bob Rankin.
Mrs. Hilda Haugh accompanied
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader and
Dianne on a trip to Washington.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Gaiser of
Dearborn, Michigan, spent the
weekend with Chester Gaiser.
Misses Julie and Janice Luther
spent some time last week with
their grandmother, Mrs. Laura
Datars.
Mrs. Melvin Stade is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where she underwent surgery.

Arising from correspondence,
council dealt with tenders for
the painting of the exterior
trim 011 the Town Hall and
accepted the tender of Direct
Painting and Decorating Com-
pany of London.
A motion was passed to the eff-
ect that council would change
its rates for the use of the tractor
and mower or tractor and bucket
to rhe D, H. O. only, the new
rates to be $1.80 per hour for
the tractor and bucket and $2.30
per hour tor tractor and mower
plus $1.50 per hour for man
operating the tractor.
Council received a hill for
bulldozing the dump ground but
did not settle the proportions to
be paid by others involved in
using the dump. The clerk was
ordered to contact the mill

owners regarding this issue and to
report to council at its next
meeting.
Baker reported that .there are
several dead trees at the comm-
unity park and hoped that they
could be removed for the safety
of the many children who play
there. Council agreed. Bills
and accounts in the amount of
$2, 532,03 were ordered paid and
the meeting adjourned to meet
again on September 2.
