Lloyd Kalbfleisch, a student
at Waterloo College, was success
ful in obtaining the Laury Schol-
arship award, k'or the student
obtaining the highest marks in
the final examinations.
Reid and Eidghoffer, of Dash-
wood, this week shipped a car-
load of choice cattle to Toronto.

Joseph Hudson and Alphine Mc-
Ewen are opening up a garage
on the Main Street of Hensall,
and will welcome all customers
for their patronage.
J. E. Meyers, of Blake, who
recently returned home from
overseas, has left for London
where he has accepted a position
with the police force of that
city.
At the regular meeting of Hay
Township council, Alex Foster
was awarded the contract to
build four new culverts of cem-
ent.
Jacob and George Deicherr,
both of Zurich, have recently
returned home from overseas.
Sam Willert, of Niagara Falls,
New York, spent several days in
Dashwood renewing old acquaint-
ances of his younger days.

JULY, 1929
Miss Annie Consist of Hensall,
has been engaged as a reacher
at S. S. 5, Stanley for the
.coming school terns.
John Decker, Ir., has treated
himself to a new Ford coupe,
making the purchase from Fred
Fairbarn, local garageman in
Zurich.
A goodly number of American
tourists are invading the area of
the Bluewater Highway, and
they can usually be distinguished
by the immense speed of their
cars.
Lloyd Hey, a Crediton garage -
man, had a $20 bill stolen from
his cash register, even though
police conducted a thorough
investigation they were unable
to find the culprit.

Hensall, raised at the present
time, and when completed it
will be one of the finest in the
area. The former barn was
destroyed by fire a couple of
years ago.
Fred Fairbarn has sold his
garage business in the Commer-
cial Ilotel property to Sandy
Elliott, of Exeter, who will oper-
ate a Ford dealership there,

JULY, 1944
The experts of the Beatty
Company were in Zurich last
week and installed a new pump
in the artesian well which was
recently drilled. The new pump
has a capacity of about 1G gallons
per minute, so along with the
other pump and well which has
a capacity of about six gallons
per minute it should assure the
village of an ample water supply.
Fred C. Kalbfleisch, head of

mills in Zurich, passed away
suddenly at his home on Saturday
in his 78th year. llis loss was a
blow to the community as he
was a good industrious and out-
standing citizen.

in the Armed Forces, is presently
spending a month's furlough at
the home of his parents, Mr. and
Airs. Chris Zirk, on the Bronson
Line,
The sad news was received here
of rhe sudden passing of Samuel
E. Faust of Mitchell, a former
well-known businessman in
Zurich.
Corporal George Beer of London
is spending a furlough with his
wwife and members of his family,
at the present time.

JULY, 1954
Rt. Rev. Monsignor W. Bourd-
eau, who has been parish priest
at Sr. Joseph for a number of
years, has been transferred to a
larger parish at Paincourt. The
community regrets his departure
since he became very popular
with everyone in the area during
his eight years here.
The first utile and a quarter
of the Goshen Line south is
presently being paved by the
County of Huron. Eventually
they plan to pave the entire
distance from Zurich to the
Dashwood road, a distance of
about five miles.
At a bingo in Exeter on Friday
night, Ivliss Kathleen flay was
the winner of $500 in cash, and
then at llensall on Monday night
Mrs. Norman Fleischauer shared
in a $500 jackpot prize. Elroy
1)esjardine was the winner of a
$100 special.
Princij,?al of the Exeter Public
School tor the past ten years
and before .that principal of the
school at Ilensall, Claude H.
Blowes has resigned to accept
appointment on the staff at
Preston Public School.

JULY, 1959
At a special meeting of the
Ilay School Area Board, Ralph
Latimer, of Parkhill was hired
as an industrial arts teacher for
the Zurich School.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Robinson,
of the Goshen Line north, were
guests at the home bf their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Elmore Hayter, on the
occasion of their 45th wedding
anniversary.
With John Masse giving up
only one hit in seven innings, the
Zurich Juveniles thumped Hensall
by a 15-1 score on Monday night.
Last Saturday night in Goderich,
the same pitcher held that team
to only three hits, while he
struck out a total of 13.
Miss Carol Gascho, daughter
of Mr. and Airs. Alan Gascho,
Zurich, had the misfortune to
break her arta on Monday. It
will be in a cast for five weeks,
The council of the Township
of Stephen have lowered the
tax rate for that municipality
by almost two mills over last
year's leve•.
