A POPULAR STAR—When Paul Hender-
son, of the Toronto :Mahle Leafs, attended the
sports night for Zurich and area boys last week,
he wo s probably the busiest man in the Com-
munity Centre. Dozens of youngsters gathered
around the star in the hopes of obtaining his
autograph and fortunately most of them did
just that.
Grand Bend Ratepayers Assured of
Brand New Sidewalks on Main Street
Under final arrangments made
at a regular meeting of Grand
Bend council, the summer re-
sort will be getting brand new
sidewalks throughout the village.
Reversing an earlier decision,
in connection with Main Street
reconstruction, all sidewa ll<s an
both sides of the street from
Highway 21 to the beach will be
replaced with new concrete.
On Highway 21 the original
plans called for cerement side-
walks only for part of the way at
a cost of 88, 219. The entire
distance of 3, 650 lineal feet
of sidewalks on both sides of
the street will now be construct-
ed of asphalt of a thickness of
three inches at a total cost of
$6, 834.76.
Toto Parker of Grand Bend was
hired to cut the grass on all
green areas owned by the vill-
age. Parker's render, the low-
est of two received calls for an
hourly rate of $2.75, using his
own equipment.
After considerable discussion,
the property committee was
given the task to review the
leasing of docking space along
the river on property leased b`y
the village from the Ontario
Department of Lands and Forests.
The fee will continue to be
25 cents per foot and owners of
private property abutting the
river will be allowed to dock
one boat for their own use free
of charge and will be charged
the same rate of dockage of
25 cents per foot for any addit-
ional boat space beim used,
The property committee was

necessary repair to the munici-
pal boating docks after last
year's cloel< toaster Alex Leather -
land told council considerable
repair was necessary.
An amendment was made to
the supplementary road expend-
iture bylaw for 1060 after receiv-
ing recommendations from the
Department of highways engin-
eer.
