Stephen Township
Sets Policies For
Warble Fly Spray
Stephen Township council last
Monday night set policies for the
1969 warble fly spraying program.
For the second consecutive year,
owners of cattle sprayed will be
charged for the service.
Previous to last year, the war-
ble fly spraying was paid for out
of the municipality's current
funds. This year owners will be
charged 13 cents for each animal
sprayed on the first trip and 12
cents for the second spraying.
Township work crews will be
doing the work under the super-
vision of warble fly inspector
•`foseph V.atley. The actual
spraying is expected to start
sometime next week.
Clerk -Treasurer Wilmar D.
Wein was given permission to
attend a meeting of Zone 2 of
the Association of Clerks and
Treasurers to be held in Goderich
on April 11.
Word was received from con-
sulting engineer B. M. ,Ross of'
Goderich that he had received
approval from the Ontario Depart-
ment of Highways on preliminary
plans for construction of the
Pollock culvert in the westerly
portion of the township.
The Goderich engineering firm
is now going ahead with final
structure plans. Cost of the new
culvert being installed on the
boundaries of Stephen and the
village of Grand Bend will be
shared by the two municipalities.
At the same time,council were
informed by Clerk -Wein that; the
preliminary certificate of approval
. from the Ontario Water Resources
Commission for construction of a
water distribution system in water
area No. 1 has been received.
The water area in question ex-
tends from Grand Bend north on
both sides of Highway 21 to High-
way 83. Residents in the specified
area has asked council about the
possibility of receiving water
from a system. B. M. Ross is
doing the survey work on this
project.
A total of eight tile drain loan
applications for $27,500 were
accepted and forwarded to the
Treasury Department for approval.
Council declared the week of
April 20-26 as Children's Aid Week

Dashwood Institute Annual Meet-
ing:
The Directors were in charge
of the annual meeting of Dashwood
Institute. President, Mrs. Glen
Webb presided for the business.
Mrs. Syd Baker reported on the
executive meeting held in Hens -
all. She announced the forth-
coming marriage of South Huron's
Home Economist; also the fact
that Mrs. John McLean would not
be district curator and a new one
would be appointed at the District
Annual to be held at Elimville
May 22 with the meal ticket one
dollar. Dashwood branch is to
display two quilts and have a
member give a brief talk on her
hobby.
The London area convention
will be held in Grace United
Church, St. Thomas. The
County Rally will be in West
Huron the first Monday in October.
Huron County Historical Society
meets in South Huron High School
April 21 and Dashwood Branch is
in charge of lunch. The Grand
Bend Institute is taking a bus trip
May 15 and invited anyone from
Dashwood wishing to go to contact
Mrs. Raymond Kading. Each
member was urged not to forget
the Grandmother's meeting in
May when Mrs. Fletcher will
demonstrate hand painting on
china.

election of officers and Mrs. Letta
Taylor gave the report of the
nominating committee. Officers
for 1969-1970 are: Past President,
Mrs. Glen Webb; president, Mrs.

members were in the choir. About
45 persons enjoyed a fellowship
breakfast after the service.
Baptismal Service:
On Sunday, April 6, the sac-
rement of Baptism was celebrated
at Calvary United Church. Dwa-
yne Kenneth Butler, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Garry K. Butler and
Robert Ward Hoffman, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert H. Hoffman were
received into the congregation
through this sacrament. John B.
DeRover was god -father for
Dwayne and Mr. and Mrs. J. F.
Taylor were god -parents for
Robert. The 3 -W's Sunday School
class presented a rose bud to each
family as a symbol of growth and
love.
