Atkey) County clerk -treasurer John G. Berry was named to a new post to be known as 'Adminis- trator" and his salary was raised by $1,500 to $13,500 per annum, effective January 1, 1969, at the November session of Huron County council in Goderich last week. At the same time, the salary of deputy clerk -treasurer B. G. Hanly was increased by $800 to $8,700 per annum, and car al- lowance was increased by $100 to $'700 per annum, effective January 1, 1969. Action was taken on recom- mendation of the warden's and personnel committee headed by Harold Robinson, Howick Town- ship, Mr. Robinson reported that the committee had discussed subject of a county administra- tor. The warden had advised the committee he had made a detailed study of , the subject and felt that such a position should apply to the County of Huron as well as many other counties. The chairman said, under present arrangements the clerk - treasurer acts as a liasion be- tween many of the county com- mittees, although by statute he does not have any authority in this field. By statute his duties pertain precisely to county council. As county administrator, Mr. Robinson said, the clerk -treas- urer would have an overall point •of view of county pro- ceedings. The by-law appointing Mr. Berry said that one of his duties was "to oar -ordinate, direct, and broadly supervise the implemen- tation of all programs approved by county council". The committee recommended that salary increases be granted secretarial staff in the office of the clerk -treasurer based on the six per cent formula. On Thursday evening, Decem- ber 19, at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., the residents will be pre- senting their own annual Christ- mas program. The public are cordially invited to attend either of these performances. There is noadmission charge. How- ever, admission will be by a free ticket only and can be re- served and picked up by tele- phoning the Home office. This year's program will con- sist of two dramatizations at each performance. This first will be especially for the chil- dren and will be called ,'Stubby with the Christmas Dwarfs", and the second will dramatize the religious Christmas story. There are two entirely different presentations than those given by the residents in the past two years. More details next week. * >Y.* Again this year, the Home has made arrangements with, Santa Claus to visit any parties or other social functions in this area, If you or your group would like to have a visit from Santa Claus, call the Iiome of - flee and we shall be happy to pass your date and time on to him, Last year he visited sev- eral in the area and he looks forward to having the opportun- ity to put the same visits, and any new visits, on his list. * r * Any boys or girls wishing to write a letter.. to Santa Claus may do so, c/o of the ,Blue Water Rest Home.
