Eckel Dial 236.4611 — Zurich House League Will Give Younger Boys Chance to Piny Hockey Each Saturday (By Shane McKinnon) The Zurich Minor Athletic Association held a practice for its house league last Saturday, and formed a four -team league. The players for these teams will be selected from a few bantam aged boys, all the pee- wees, novice, and last year's mite team. There will be two games played each Saturday morning, with the first game starting et 8:00 a.m, and the second game starting at 9:15 a.m. Crediton Edges Zurich Flyers In First Two Games (By Shane McKinnon) On Friday night the Crediton Tigers defeated the Zurich Flyers 7-3. The game started off quickly with the Crediton boys collecting six goals in the first period and Zurich no counters but many good tries. The reason for this bad play, in my opinion, was the result of Percy Bedard, the goal ten- der, being hit in the head with a puck in the warm-up making him a bit dazzled. In the next two periods Zur- ich outplayed the Tigers by shooting three quick ones past their goalie, while Crediton only counted one. The sharpshooters for Credi- ton were Vincent, Morrissey and Overholt with singles, while Lamb and Smith collected two apiece. Bob Morrissey also had four assists for •the night. For the Zurich squad the goal getters were Haggitt, Merrier and Westlake with Johnston and Merner assisting them. There were nine penalties handed out in the game with Crediton collecting five, while Zurich got four. On Sunday night the Flyers again lost to Crediton by a score of 13-8. The next home game for the Zurich team is this Friday night, when they play host to Monkton. Next Tuesday night they will be et home to the Blyth entxy in the WOAA. 0 Arnold Circle Meet 4t Bell's Home The Arnold Circle of Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall, held their Christmas meeting at the home of the president, Mrs. Robert Bell, on Monday evening, December 11. The president opened the meeting with a poem, "Christmas Treas- ures". Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau and Mrs. Don Mousseau conducted the worship period using the theme, "A World Prepares". Fifteen members answered the roll call by naming a Christmas carol. Mrs. Earl Campbell in- stalled the 1968 officers. Members exchanged gifts with their sunshine pals. Hostesses were Mrs. John Baker, Mrs. Harold Knight ,and Mrs. R. Van - stone. Midgets Trounce Blyth Squad (By Shane McKinnon) Wednesday night the Zurich Midgets retaliated on Blyth for beating them Monday. The score was 6-4 for Zurich. Theplay was rough and fairly fest with the Zurich squad proving to be the tougher team and the best at keeping their teinpers, for the Blyth squad picked up four of the five pen- alties in the game. The goals for Blyth were scored by Riley, Rosebush, Cowan ,and Chalmers. Zurich's sharpshooters were Blondy McKinnon end John McKinley, with two each, while Fred Mommersteeg and Burger Schile had singles. 0 Goderich Teams Shellac Zurich (By Shane McKinnon) The Zurich Bantams, Pee- wees and Squirts were all skunked in Goderich on Satur- day. The Bantams lost 13-0; the Pee-Wees lost 10-0, and the Squirts lost 11-0. This was a terrible .showing for Zurich but you must keep in mind the fact that Zurich is an "E" division team, while Goderich is an "A" division team. 0 ZURICH LADIES' LEAGUE November 27 Starlites, D.
