JULY, 1927
The town of Goderieh is cele-
brating it's 100th birthday this
coming week -end, and big ar-
rangements are being made to
•officially mark the occasion.
Operations have begun to
renovate the interior of -the
Township Hall, in the village
of Zurich. A. fine new gallery
will be added to the building,
and at the same time the stage
will be enlarged.
The -trustees of the village of
Zurich have engaged the serv-
ices of Mr. Hooper, of Seaforth,
to dig an artesian well in town
for the supply of water to the
cement tank for fire protection.
Bobby Drysdale, of Hensel],
who has underwent an opera-
tion in the London hospital, has
returned home in a much -im-
proved condition.

STEAM POWER—This old steam
engine, owned by Lavis Construction
of Clinton, chugged its way along in
the Hensall centennial parade a week
ago Saturday, and drew the attention
of many curious rious spectators along the
route.

S. Duffy, of McKillop, became
the bride of Alvin 11. Rau, RR
2, Zurich. The couple will re-
side on the fine farm owned
by the groom in Stanley Town-
ship.

JULY, 11952
District Governor of Lions,
Victor Dinnin, has returned
home from Mexico where he
attended the large international
convention.
Harold Campbell, of Hay
Township, had a better than
average hay crop this year.
Besides an outstanding crop of
hay, he harvested a wallet con-
taining over $200, which he lost
last year during the election
time. He had looked in vain
for the missing wallet,, but had
not been able to find it until

The school board et (rand
Bend has approved plans for a
$50,000 addition to their pres-
ent school, with work to com-
mence in the very near future.
Ted Laporte, of Windsor, is
at present on his farm with a
crew of workmen, who are
ereting a new cottage for him
on his summer resort.

JULY, 1957
Grant. Male, who has been 00
the staff of the Zurieh branch
of the Bank of Montreal, has
been transferred to Hanover.
A number of friends and rel-
atives gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Merrier,
to honor Mr. and Mrs. Wes
Werner, prior to their depar-
ture for Europe, where they
will visit with their daughter
and son-in-law in France. for
some time.
On Monday evening the Zur-
ich fire department was called
to the farm of Lionel Wilder,
on the Bluewater Highway,
where Mr. Wilder had fallen to
the bottom of a 20 -foot well
after having a chain break and
hit him on the head. Mr. Wild-
er was brought to the top of
the well, and is recovering
nicely after being treated for
head wounds at South Huron
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. William O'Brien
Jr. have returned from their
honeymoon, and spent the week-
end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Leroy O'Brien.
Gordon and Stanley Smith, of
the Bluewater Highway, have
returned home after a pleasant
fishing trip to northern Ontario
with Mr. and Mrs. Ward Fritz.
