Hensall Couple Married 60 Years Ago
It was 60 years ago on April
2 that Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Love,
Hensall, took their marriage
vows in -Hensall Presbyterian
Church.
Since that tine, the couple
has been blessed with two chil-
dren, •a daughter, Mrs. Percy
(Emma) Campbell, RR 1, Exe-
ter, and a son, Earl, RR 1,

On Retirement
Mrs. William (Pearl) Hooper,
of Grand Bend, formerly of
Exeter and Hensall, who has
been on the nursing staff at
South Huron Hospital for 13
years, and who recently retired,
was presented with a silver tea
service at a banquet at the Le-
gion Hall, Exeter, Wednesday,
March 29. A.
The presentation was made
by Miss Myrtle Ninham, RN,
director of. nurses.
Mrs. William Colter, RN, of
Crediton, who has been on the
staff since the hospital's incep-
tion 14 years ago, was pre-
sented with a record player by
Miss A. Claypole, superinten-
dent •of the hospital.

Mrs. Love is the former
Annie Jarrott, of Hay Town-
ship.. She and her husband,
also born in Hay Township, are
both 80 years old this year.
They farmed in Stanley Town-
ship until 23 years ago when
they moved to Hensall.
A family dinner to mark the
occasion was held at the Do-
minion Hotel in Zurich. Guests
were 'present from Hensall,
Zurich, Exeter, Seaforth, Clin-
ton and Toronto.

4-H Swine Club
Sale Succesful
A total of $4,102.50 was paid
for 30 lots of the fourth annual
Huron County Hog Producers'
4-H bred gilt sale on Wednes-
day, March 29, at the Clinton
fair grounds barn. Four La-
coanbes averaged $148, one
Landace sold for $200, and 25
Yorkshires averaged $132.40.
The overall average sale price
was $136.75.
The top selling gilt was a
Landace, Remview Beth IX,
bred by Robert McMillar, Sea -
forth, and consigned by Garry
McClure, of Seaforth. She was
purchased by A. Blok, Bayfield,
for $200. The top priced La-
combe, consigned by Owen
Wright, RR 1, Wroxeter, was
sold to J. Jansen, RR 2, Sea -
forth, for $160.
Tap buyers were B. R. Gam-
ble, RR 1, Granton, in Usborne
Township, who purchased seven
Yorkshire, while J. Jansen, of
RR 2, Seaforth, bought three
Lacombe and three Yorkshire
sows.
All of the sows consigned
were •sold to swine producers
in Huron County. The Huron
County Hog Producers' 4H
Swin Club was re -organized re-
cently with a membership of 59
rural 'boys and girls.

entertained their daughter Ann
and some of her close friends
who are residing at Delaware
Hall, the ladies' residence at
UWO, London, to a dinner last
Sunday. Those present for the
occasion were Miss Frances

Mabee, Toronto; Miss Kathryn
Manse% Wheatley; Miss Mari-
anne Mathew, Toronto; Miss
Bonnie McCrae, Niagara Falls.
Rev. H. A. 'Seegmiller, BA,
BD, new rector, took charge of
the service in St. Paul's Angli-
can Church Sunday morning..
The choir, directed by Mrs.
Frank Forrest at the church
organ, rendered an •anthem.
Rev, Seegmiller is the new rec-
tor for Trivitt Memorial, Exe-
ter, and St. Paul's, Hensall.
Flowers were placed in the
sanctuary of the United Church
Sunday in loving memory by
the families of John Pepper and
Richard Kinsman. The daffo-
dils were placed through the
courtesy of the local Cancer
Society to commend their April
campaign for support.

Ladies' Auxiliary ,Mrs. Harold
Campbell, Mrs. William Smale,
Mrs. Clarence Reid, Mrs. Mary
Taylor, Mrs, Harry Horton and
Mrs. Roy Smale, participated in
a bowling tournament at Walk-
erton Wednesday, March 29.
Mrs. Mary Taylor was presented
with a gift for the oldest bowler.
Mrs. R. A. Orr was the win-
ner of the $25 Easter basket
of groceries in a draw at Bea -
ton's Bakery Friday evening,
March 31, Winning ticket was
drawn by Cindy Bisback. Pro-
ceeds are for Easter Seals Crip-
pled Children's fund, and the
project was sponsored by Hen-
sall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary.
Misses Faye and Beth Troyer
spent the week -end as guests of
their sister, Miss Sandra Troyer,
of London.

from a delightful seven weeks
vacation spent with her daugh-

of the ocean by divers. This
is a dangerous procedure. The
coral broach is set with a pearl
taken from an oyster shell,
Mrs. Fuss received a grand
welcome -by her daughter and
friends and during her stay
there enjoyed a tour of eight
islands by plane. She also
brought hone lovely colored
pictures taken at a flower show
which her friends are getting
a great deal of pleasure out of.
At the United Nations Youth
Pilgrimage speaking c o n t e s t
held at Central Huron Second-
ary School, Clinton, Friday eve-
ning, the winner was Wayne
Gornall, a grade 10 student,
son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Gor-
nall, Clinton, speaking on
"What I think of the Centen-
nial" Wayne has been chosen
as the scholar to take the tour
to the United Nations in June.
Ten contestants from Hensall,
Exeter, Go d e r i c h, Seaforth,
Clinton and Wingham took part.
Sponsored by the Rebekahs and
Oddfellows of South Huron, a
number of members from Hen-
sall district attended.
Cindy Bisback is a patient in
War • Memorial Sick Children's
Hospital, London, where she
will undergo surgery on her
feet. •
The annual meeting of Hen-
sall WI will be held Wednes-
day, April 12, in the Legion
Hall at 8:15 p.m, Roll call will
be payment of fees. Reports
of standing committees will be
heard.
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle
attended the funeral of the late
Mrs. Harold Sturgis, at the
George E. Logan & Son funeral
home, London, on Tuesday. Mr.
Mickle was one of the pall
bearers.
Mrs. Clendon Christie and
Catharine Anne spent Sunday
as guests of 1VIr, and Mrs. Rob-
ert Watson, of Seaforth.

Complete Contest
Kippen East WI finished the
year's attendance competition
by revealing the Secret Pals
secret and by going out to
dinner on Tuesday March 28.
Winner of the lucky cup was
Mrs. James Chalmers. The
lucky dinner tickets was held
by Mrs. Ross Sararas, Contest
winners were Mrs. Mike Con-
nolly, Mrs. Gary Finlayson and
Mrs. Ross Sararas.
Mrs. Drummond entertained.
