.^-mister of Highways for Ontario is doing his part in keep -
Ontario highways tidy, Hon. C. S. MacNaughton is pre-
sented with a personalized combination litter basket and
tissue dispenser from Miss Outdoor Canada, Miss Liz Foss.
Every year the Ontario Department of Highways spend over
$200.000 picking up highway litter.

WSWS Meeting
The WSWS of the Evangel-
ical UB Church held its first
fall meeting, Friday, September
9. Mrs. Howard Klumpp was
chairlady for the program
planned by the membership and
attendance group. Mrs. Merrill
Janes as the leader; Mrs, Sid
Baker as Dr. Silver; and Mrs.
Mervyn Tieman who led the
prayer period had the topic,
"Intercessory P r a ye r". The
following intermediate campers,
John and Orville James, Dean
Oestreicher, Beth Snell, Bonnie
Mason and Brad Klumpp, en-
tertained the ladies with camp
songs.
Mrs. Carl Oestreicher, presi-
dent, conducted the business.
The fall rally will be held at
Dashwood, 'October 21. Mrs.
EUB Women Meet
In Regular Session
Twenty-seven members and
four visitors attended the Sep-
tember meeting of the WSWS
and Ladies' Aid of the Zurich
EUB Church.
Mrs. Oscar Greb presided
over the business session when
she announced the fall rally to
be held at Dashwood on Oc-
tober 21.
Mrs. Menno Steckle, spiritual
life secretary, asked for volun-
teers to write a poem, para-
graph or sentence on the theme,
"Because I failed to pray".
These are to be handed to her
on or before September 17, in
order to be used at the denomi-
national day •of prayer service.
Mrs. George Bullock occupied
the chair for the program •on
prayer.
Miss Ethel Gabel read the in-
tercessory prayer recorded in
John 17. Prayer poems were
read by Mrs, Hilton Truemner
and Mrs. Laird Jacobe.
The guest speaker, Rev. Sach,
of Lucan, illustrated his talk
with slides from Central Asia,
where he served for three years
on a mission field.
He played a piano instrumen-
tal, "The Robins Return", and
his wife played "The Monastry
Garden". Another selection,
"Sonitina" was played by Shar-
on Jacobe.
The hymns chosen were
"Sweet Hour of Prayer", "Keep
on Praying" and "Somebody's
Praying for You".
Rev. Shatto dismissed the
meeting with prayer, and a fel-
lowship period followed.

Dashwood Evangelical United
Brethren Church memorial serv-
ice was held Sunday afternoon
at the cemetery. Rev. C. B.
Carr, from St. Jacobs, was guest
speaker, taking as the topic,
"He being dead yet speaketh".
A male quartet, Harry Hoff-
man, Jack Geiser, Stanley Haist
and Stuart Wolfe, sang, accom-
panied by Mrs. Merrill James
on the piano accordion. Rev.
M. J. James was the leader in
worship.
Rev. and Mrs. M. J. James
attended the United Church
general council at Waterloo on
Monday when the delegates
voted unanimously to accept
the plan for union with the
Ontario conference of the Evan-
gelical United Brethren Church.
The union must be approved
by the EUB general conference
in November and by the 34th
annual conference of the EUB
church during 1967, before the
final union can be consummat-
ed in January, 1968.
Dashwood EUB choir held
their first regular rehearsal
Wednesday evening for the
fall.
