Seven- year-old girls are now eligible to join Brownies under the leadership of Brown Owl Mrs. Robert Cook, and Tawnies Mrs. Carmel Group Resume Meetings Fall meetings resumed for the Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church when they gathered on Tuesday evening, September 6, at 8:15 p.m., with president Mrs. Earl Campbell presiding. The devotional was conducted by Mrs. Archie Hoggarth and Mrs. Harry Snell. Articles were read on "India" by Mrs. Hog- garth and "Nigeria" by Mrs. Snell. Plans were outlined for the fall rally to be held in this church Wednesday, Septem- ber 28. 0 Amber Rebekahs Entertain Guests The regular meeting of Am- ber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall, was held Wednesday evening, September 7, with 20 visitors from Goderich Lodge, who pre- sented the travelling gavel to this Lodge. The past noble grands of this Lodge occupied the officers' chairs. District deputy president Miss Jean Scott will install the 1966- 67 officers the first Wednesday in October. It was decided to send a rep- resentative to the centennial meeting in Hensall Monday eve- ning. A member was appoint- ed to attend the United Nations meeting at Clinton September 15, to make arrangements re- garding a student to attend the UN meeting next year. A social evening of cards was played and high was Mrs. Glenn Bell. In a draw Mrs. Amos Osbaldeston, of Goderich, was the winner. 0 Hensall UCW Hold General Meeting The United Church Women held their opening .autumn meeting on Thursday afternoon, September 8, in Fellowship Hall with leader Mrs. James McAllister in charge of the meeting. Mrs. A. B. Rowcliffe gave the devotional entitled. "The Bible's Timeless and Timely Insights", written by Dr. Blanton, United States psychiatrist. Mrs. Sim Roobol gave a read- ing which contained some love- ly thoughts, entitled, "If Jesus came to our house to spend a day or two". Mrs. Boyce introduced the new study book for this year, "The Church Grows in Canada", written by Dr. D. J. Wilson who has had wide experience in many fields. A tentative date for packing the fall bale was set for Octo- ber 25, and the bazaar date is scheduled for November 25. An invitation was accepted from the Arnold Circle to at- tend their Monday evening meeting, September 19, in the Carmel Presbyterian Church. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Davis, of New Jersey, citizen of the year for Women's Insti- tute. Associate members of this unit will be entertained September 20, at 3 p.m. Mrs. Currie pronounced the benediction. In a circle a so- cial hour was spent and lunch served by Mrs. Dining and her social committee. Mrs. Grace Harpole was hostess. Rodger Venner and Mrs. Barrie Jackson. John Soldan, who has been a patient in St. Joseph's Hos- pital, London, for the past five and ahalf weeks, returned home Saturday. Milton Love is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Jerry Rannie, London, form- erly of Hensall, is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, where he recently underwent Honor Bride Prior To Marriage Miss Elizabeth Ann Denomme, whose marriage to Albert Keith Anderson took place Saturday, September 10, in St. Peter's Church, St. Joseph, has been honored at several showers. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Remi Dennomme, RR 2, Zurich, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John And- erson, RR 2, Hensall. Shower hostesses have been Mrs. Charles Cunningham and Mrs. Des Sawa, London; Mrs. Stephen Meidinger, Mrs. Lloyd Denomme and Mrs. Robert Merner, Zurich, and Mrs. David Osborne, London. Out -of town guests at the wed- ding were from Toronto, Wind- sor, Amherstburg, LaSalle, Lon- don, Zurich, Seaforth and Hen- sall. 0 DIES IN HOLLAND Mrs. Harry Van Wieren, RR 2, Hensall, received a telephone call from Holland Thursday evening, advising her of the sudden death •of her mother, Mrs. Anthony Tol, of Boskoop, Holland, who passed away very suddenly from .a heart attack the same day. Surviving are her husband, two sons and two daughters. The late Mrs. Tol visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Van Wieren, here about five years ago. serious surgery. Bert Coleman has accepted a position with Victoria and Grey Trust Co., Goderich, and com- menced his new duties Monday of this week, IVIiss Maude Glenn, a patient at Mrs. Iles nursing home, Ex- eter, celebrated her 87th birth- day on Sunday, September 11, Many old friends called to see her and to offer congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle, Sob and Ann, spent Sunday with the formers' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ross MacMillan, and their fam- ily in Waterloo. Chiselhurst UCW Chiselhurst United Church Women held their September meeting Tuesday evening with president Mrs R. Taylor in charge. Mrs Bill Gibson led in the worship topic, "God triumph and we rejoice", assisted by Mrs. A. Ross and Mrs. Clarence Coleman. Lynda Ferguson fav- ored with a piano solo.
