Dr, Norma Hopkinson, of from, a two weeks' vacation at
Lion's Head, visited for a few
days with her parents, Mr. and

Mrs. Pauline Scrabuik,. of
Port Arthur, is spending two
weeks holidaying with Mr, and
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and
fancily.
Mrs. Gary Corlett and family,
of Toronto, have returned after
a visit with Mr. and Mrs. N. E.
Cook.
Mrs. John McElwaine, of
Unity, Sask., recently visited
her aunt, Mrs. Fanny Clark, and
also visited with Mr, and Mrs.
Frank Forrest and Clark.
Week -end guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and
family were Mr. and Mrs. Ian
Philpott and Donald, of Roches-
ter, N.Y.
Rev. C. J. Boyne occupied his
own pulpit in Carmel Church
Sunday morning last, choosing
for his sermon topic, "Some-
times or Always?" Gary Scholl
was soloist and for his selection
sang "An Evening Prayer". Mrs.
Malcolm Dougall presided at
the church organ.
Mrs. Arthur Anderson
Mrs. Arthur Anderson, of
Kippen, passed away in Clinton
Public Hospital, Sunday, August
21. Mrs. Anderson, the former
Elizabeth Henrietta Clark, was
82 and is survived by two sons,
John and Emmerson Anderson,
of RR 2, Hensall; two •daugh-
ters, (Olive) Mrs. Eldon Jarrott,
Brucefield; (Frances) Mrs. Rob-
ert Upshall, Seaforth; .two sis-
ters, Mrs. John Mason, Toronto;
Mrs. Myrtle Kilpatrick, London;
one brother, Alfred Clark, Hen-
sall; seven grandchildren and
11 great grandchildren. Her
husband predeceased her in
1957. Public funeral service,
,conducted by Rev. Edgar Roul-
ston, Exeter, was held on Tues.
day at 3 p.m. from the Bonthron
funeral home. Interment was
in Baird's Cemetery.

visited last week in Hamilton,
Winona and Niagara Falls.
The Misses Brenda Noakes
and Kathie Henderson were in
Toronto last week and attended
a performance of the Beatles at
Maple Leaf Gardens.
Mrs. Ronald Gynane, Mrs.
Stanley Rylott and Mrs. Har-
Jand Greenlaw, of Peterbor-
ough, visited over the week -end
with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Noakes, and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy,
Michael and Billy have returned
Point Clark.
Miss Grace Brock, London,
was a week -end guest with her
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Brock.
Farewell Party
Twenty-eight relatives a n d
family ,of David Noakes held a
farewell party in his honor on
Saturday. August 20, in Hensall
Legion Hall. David was pre-
sented with lovely gifts from
the family and friends. He is
currently at UWO but after his
marriage on September 17, he
and his bride will depart for
Berkeley, California, where he
will be teaching and working
for his Ph.D. David was in
Maryland last week attending
the 17th convention of the
American Institute of Biological
Sciences at the University of
Maryland.
Home From Course
Miss Pauline Bell has re-
turned after an eight-week
course on figure skating at St.
Thomas. While there she com-
pleted a set of three senior
dances and came in second in

Miss Sherrie Younge was one
of the professional models
chosen to represent the new
fall fashions at the Argyie
Shopping Plaza which opened
last week in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meyers
and daughter Bonnie visited
Mrs. Mary Jane Hey on Satur-
day afternoon.

Mary Jane Hey were Mrs. Thom-
as Hibbs and John, of London;
also Miss Mary Ellen Burdge.
Mary Ellen Burdge has taken
up a position with the Bell
Telephone Company, of London,
after graduating from school.
Mr. Bill Clarke, of Blake,
spent the week -end in Toronto.

Mrs. H. G. McKinley, of To-

dance teacher was John Caugh-
ell and figure Donald Cum-
mings. Pauline was also suc-
cessful in taking third place in
a class of 37 for solo.
Mrs. John Cochrane
Mrs. John Cochrane, of Hen-
sall, formerly of Hay Township,
passed away Sunday in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, where
she had been a patient since
June 4,
The former Jennie Latta, she
was in her 74th year, and had
been a resident of Hensall for
four years. She was a member
of St. Andrew's United Church,
Kippen,
Surviving is her husband.
Public funeral service was
held Tuesday, August 23, from
the Bonthron funeral home,
Hensall, conducted by Rev.
Edgar Roulston, Exeter. Burial
was in Baird's Cemetery.

Schwalm, of Hensall, and Don-
ald Carl Coghlin, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Norman P. Coghlin,
of RR 4, Atwood, on Saturday,
August 20, at 3 p.m. Baskets

daisies amidst the ferns, formed
the f lo r a 1 background for the
ceremony.
Miss Greta H. Lammie, Hen-
sall, played the wedding music
and accompanied the soloist,
Miss Mary Goodwin, of Hensall,
who sang "0 Father all Creat-
ing" and "The Wedding Hymn"
by George F. Handl.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was lovely in
a floor -length gown of white
faille with scoop neckline and
long lily -point sleeves, empire
waist and A-line skirt were ac-
cented with appliqued floral
lace. The detachable chapel
train of deep -tiered Vienna lace
fell from bias band across the
shoulders. Her headdress was
a coronet of mother of pearl,
shoulder -length veil featuring
French embroidery, and she
carried a cascade of pink de-
light roses,
Sister of the bride, Miss Bar-
bara L. Schwalm, was maid of
honor, wearing a floor -length
gown of light blue peau de sole
with empire waist line and maids, and the flower girl was
Laurie Plate, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Frank Plate, Kitchen-
er, who were gowned identi-
cally to the maid of honor.
Groomsman was Ralph Doug-
las Porter, of Atwood. Ushers
were Charles Gordon Schwalm,
brother of the bride, and Mur-
ray Leroy Coghlin, of Atwood,
brother of the groom.
A-line skirt, lace bodice featured
high neckline and short sleeves.
Matching head band held light
blue shoulder length veil, and
she carried a cascade of pink
carnations, Sister of the bride,
Miss Marjorie E, Schwalm, and
sister of the groom, Miss Mary
Eleaine Coghlin, were brides.
STORY OF A CANADIAN MP — Gordon Pinsent has
the title role in Quentin Durgens, MP, a series of ten hour-
long dramas to be seen Tuesday nights on CBC -TV next fall.
They tell the story of an idealistic young lawyer from a
small Ontario town and his experiences as a fledging mem-
ber of the House of Commons.

The bride's mother chose a
draped sheath dress of im-
ported champagne lace with
matching gloves and cocoa ac-
cessories, with a corsage of pink
carnations. The groom's moth-
er chose a dress of teal green
chantilly lace with matching
gloves and beige accessories,
with a corsage of cream roses.
Guests were accepted at the
receiving line and a wedding
dinner was served to 76 at the
church, catered by the Ladies'
Aid. The bride and groom
cut the three -tiered swan pi1-

lared cake, surrounded with
cloudy veil and bridal bouquets,
flanked with chandelier candle
holders.
Four grandmothers and two
grandfathers attended and a re-
ception was given by the bride's
parents at the Community Cen-
tre Auditorium, with guests at-
tending from several points in
Ontario. The groom's parents
also assisted with the reception.
For travelling the bride wore
a linen peacock blue three-piece
ensemble with black accessories.
After their Northern Ontario
travelling and calling on rela-
tives and friends they will re-
side in Blyth, where the groom
is an accountant in the Blyth
bank and the bride is on the
office staff at the GAC Loans
and Finances in Clinton.
The groom's parents, from
Atwood, entertained the bridal
party at the home of the bride's
parents, following rehearsal.
