Mother and Daughter Banquets
Two mother and daughter
banquets were held Friday,
May 6. At the Evangelical UB
Church the Christian social re-
lations •committee of the WSWS,
with Mrs. Jack Gaiser chairlady,
was in charge of the following
program:
The toast to the mothers was
given by Norma Weigand, with
Mrs. Don Gaiser giving the re-
ply; a piano duet by Mrs, Ken
McCrae sand Bonnie; Scripture
reading by Eleanor Wolfe;
prayer by Mrs, Merrill James;
a poem by Diane Weber; a
musical number by the junior
and senior girls. Gifts were
presented to the WSWS mother
with the most grandchildren,
Mrs. William Gossman; the
youngest WSWS mother with
the most children, Mrs. Lloyd
•Guenther,
The highlights of the WSWS
,convention held in Palmer
Rapids were given by the dele-
gates. Mrs. Howard Klumpp
showed slides of her trip to
Europe.

Married in Lutheran Church
COOPER-FLAXBARD
St. Peter's Lutheran Church
was the setting for the marriage
of Shirley Gertrude Flaxbard
and Ross Hubert Cooper, both
of Woodstock, Friday, May 6,
at 8 p,m.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard,
Zurich, and the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert
Cooper, of RR 1, Exeter.
Rev. A. C. Blackwell per-
formed the double ring cere-
mony in a setting of spring
flowers and candlelight.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a light
beige and navy wool and tery-
lene suit with navy accessories
and a corsage of pink car-
nations.
Her only attendant was her
sister, Miss Ruth Ann Flaxbard,
in an aqua suit, with white ac-
cessories and a corsage of pink
carnations.
William Snow, Exeter, was
groomsman.
A reception followed at the
home of the bride's parents.
The newlyweds then left on a
trip to Niagara Falls and Buf-
falo. On their return they will
reside in Woodstock,

Contest Winner
Far- Ice Cream
Milford Doerr, proprietor of
Doerr's Superior Store in Zur-
ich, has received word of his
winning a special contest staged
recently by York Ice Cream.
The Zurich store placed first
in the second division of the
contest.
As a reward for their efforts,
two members of the firm win
a one-week motor coach tour
throughout Ontario and Que-
bec. The date for the tour has
not been set as yet.
