Take It Easy, Boys!
Last Friday night's Juvenile hockey
game between Lions Head and Zurich pro-
vided the enthusiastic fans with plenty of
action, both as far as hockey playing ability
and roughness were concerned. On several
occasions fights broke out amongst players
on both teams, and on one •occasion even a
couple of fans were on the ice mixing things
up. This photo shows one of the uprisings
as it took place in front of the visitors' net,
with the referee trying desperately to
smooth matters out.

Zurich Lions Midgets on Fri-
day of last week dropped a
close 7-5 decision to a capable
Ripley entry in their first game
of the second round of WOAA
playdowns.
Kevin McKinnon, playing de-
spite his injury in Tuesday's
Juvenile game, led the Zurich
attack with four goals. Jim
Hoffman got the other goal.
Zurich led 2-0 after the end
of the first period as McKinnon
scored the first goal from Bob
Webb, then later in the period
he scored again, this time from
Hoffman and Webb.
At the end of the second
period the score was tied 3-3
as Ripley outscored Zurich in
this frame 3-1. McKinnon again
scored, this time unassisted.
With about five minutes gone
in the third stanza, McKinnon
scored his fourth tally of the
game on a pass from Hoffman,
to take the lead for the second
time in •the game, 4-3. Then
Ripley, with about eight min-
utes left, scored two quick
goals that caught the Zurich
defence off guard and this took
the sting out of the Zurich at -

tack.
Zurich fought back desper-
ately as Hoffman scored one
goal but Ripley blinked the red
light •twice.
Penalties hurt the team as
Zurich had five of them and
Ripley took advantage and
scored three times while Zur-
ich was shorthanded.
Rick Jeffrey played spectac-
ularly in the nets for Zurich
as time and time again he
stopped point-blank drives that
were labelled sure goals. The
goals scored on Rick were
shots that couldn't be helped.
In +a thrilling game at Hen-
sall Friday night Hensall Pee
Wees defeated Mildmay Pee
Wees 6-5 in the second game in
the best two -out -of -three series
in WOAA playdowns.
The game was tied 5-5 at the
end of regulation time, and in
a ten-minute overtime Gary
Sararas connected for the win-
ning goal.
Playoffs are now tied at one
game each, with the third game
at Mildmay Thurday night.

Zurich Juveniles Eliminated By Lions
Head hi Two Straight Overtime Games
The Zurich MAA Juveniles
fell by the wayside in WOAA
Juvenile C eompetition last
Friday night, when they lost
the second game of their best -
of -three series .to Lions Head,
by a 6-5 score. The thrilling
overtime battle was played in
the Hensall Arena. Earlier in
the week the team was beaten
4-3, in overtime, at Wiarton.
Zurich pulled the game out
of the fire late in the third
period, when, with less than.
tone minute remaining in regu-
lation time, they pulled their
goal -tender and scored the
equalizer. However, in the
overtime session the visitors
managed to score the only goal.
The locals went into a quick
lead in the first period, when
John Gibbons scored twice be-
fore the ,half -way mark. With
five minutes left, however, the
northerners blinked the red
light to put themselves right
back into contention.
In the first six minutes of
the second period, the visitors
scored twice to go one goal up,
but Zurich roared back strong
with goals by Mike Soldan at
the 12 -minute mark and Barry
Bloch •at 13:25, so that they
again held a one -goal lead at
the end of the second period.
Midway through the third
session Lions Head scored the
equalizer, and then five min-
utes later, while Zurich was

playing short-handed, they
banged in another. The real
thriller came with only a half
minute left in regulation, when
coach Bob Johnston pulled his
goalie in favor of an extra at-
tacker. The strategy payed off,
when Bud Desjardine blinked
the red light on a pass from
Bill Hoffman.
The overtime session was
only two minutes old when the
visitors scored the winner, and
try as they liked the Zurick.
crew could not get that one
back. again.
A total tof 14 penalties were
handed .out in the game, with
only five going tc Zurich and
nine to the visitors. Garry
Geoffrey played a standout
game in the Zurich nets, and
but for his brilliant perform-
ance the scoreboard could have
looked different at the end of
the game.
