Mr. and Mrs. Alf Scholl moved into their beautiful new Thome west of Hensall, over the week -end. Hugh Bremner Speaks at Banquet At a recent banquet in Hensall United Church, Hugh Bremner, news commentator of CFPL-TV, presented pictures and com- mentary on trips to Hong Kong, .Mrica and Russia. The banquet, sponsored by the stewards of the church, was served by the United Church Women. Entertainment during the supper hour consisted of a sing -song led by Sam Rannie. Instrumental music was sup- plied by pianist James Traquair and trumpet soloist Robert Forrest. Wilmer Ferguson, chairman of committee of stew- ards, acted as MC. Robert Rea - burn expressed the thanks of the men to Mr. Bremner. F'dttnr Mr. and Mrs. William Mickle returned home last Thursday evening after a very pleasant 'holiday spent in Antigua, an island south of Peurto Rico, be- longing to the West Indies. All around the island are white sand beaches and placid clear waters. In the daytime the temperature is around 80 de- grees and in the evening around 70 degrees. All the time there is a nice breeze from the trade winds. Big Sale A very successful auction sale, widely attended, was held Friday on .the farm of the late John Faber, 11/4 miles south of Hensall, on Highway 4. The 140 -acres farm was purchased by Bill Rowcliffe, RR, 1, Hen- sall, for the price of $52,400. There were a number of int- terested bidders for the farm. Alvin Walper, of Dashwood, was the auctioneer for the ex- tensive sale. Beverly Beaton underwent surgery at Clinton Public Hos- Arnold Circle Plan Visit To Folks At Ontario Hospital Mrs. AI Hoggarth, vice-presi- dent of the Presbyterian Arnold Circle, chaired the March 21 meeting in the church base- ment and entertained those present with .a poem, "What's cooking in the kitchen", with bottles labeled as the ingredi- ence for a happy new year. Before a luncheon, prepared by Mrs. Homer Campbell and Mrs. John Baker, the worship period with Mrs. Mildred Bell and Mrs. John Skea chose "kindness" as the theme and described the many "keys" to open doors for better living. An invitation to Goderich Hospital to provide entertain- ment for the patients was ac- cepted by members and guests present. Mrs. Stewart Bell extended thanks to Mrs. Gordon Schwalm for her donation of her last prize money from the Kellogg contest she won, and a letter from Dorothy Bowman, an Afri- can missionary, who received a parcel of used Christmas cards from Mrs. Schwalm, was read. Nine members plans to send parcels to missionaries and Mrs. Schwalm demonstrated the way cards must be wrapped for overseas. A joint meeting with the WMS will be held in May to hear the report brought back from the Niagara falls Presby- terial in April by Mrs. Schwalm. The Circle's Easter meeting program will be in charge of Mrs. John Baker and Mrs. Don Mousseau with pictures of the trip taken by Roy Jewel by Mrs. Stirling Graham and Mrs, Harry Caldwell. The Misses Pauline and Troy- ann Bell took leading parts In the St. Thomas firgure skating carnival held Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of last week. -----0 Amber Rebekahs Plan For Visit Of Districe Deputy The regular meeting of Am- ber Rebekah Lodge was held Wednesday night with the chair taken by noble grand Mrs. George Clifton, when it was announced that the official spring visit of district deputy president Mrs. Edna Caldwell will be made April 20. The annual district meeting will be held Wednesday, April 13, in the Lodge Hall at 3 p.m. At the conclusion of the Meeting a successful euchre was held with nine tables in play, and the winners were: ladies', Mrs. Luella Willert, Mrs. Jack Corbett; lone hands, Mrs. Edna Corbett; men, Glenn Bell, Sgt. D. Windover; box of groceries was won by Mrs. Asa Deeves. Committee in charge served lunch. ZURICH.
