V "No one has ever been up to Heaven except the Son of Man who came down from Heaven." When Jesus made the above statement about himself he was interpreting the Christmas story. That life that throbbed in the manger was a new kind of life on earth —the life of the Son of God who came down from heaven. If we accept His life as a gift we can rejoice before Christ- mas, during the season and more so when the tinsel has been burned. Have you accepted Him as your gift? He alone is able to fill the heart with gladness in this age and in the age to come. Over 1200 gaily colored Christ; Inas lights twinkle to all the viewers. The snow-white carpet at the base of the display appears as a jewelled mantle against the sleep blue velvet of the sky. And between the two, bright sparkly and soft glowy lights sway to and fro in the frosty December air. The Walpers began the pro- ject six years ago in a modest way. At that time, about 200 lights hung from the house and garage and one Christmas tree. Over the next years, other focal points were added such as the Christmas carolers, Santa and his reindeer and the giant set VARNA NEWS Christmas services were held last Sunday in the United Church.
