Your Qug Martin ry Assmann SEIMINIINIGMEINEMOREINIMIft After I was free from the tree -top and had regained my senses, I helped to free my buddy with the other boys. It was not long then that we had to make plans to remove the bleeding body — no one made any suggestions as to the best way as they were waiting on my orders. After pausing for some time we decided on the old way of removing lum- ber jacks hurt in the bush by cutting down two small trees and making a stretcher. This we did and laid the body on. It was about ten feet Iong, so a few boys got on each side taking turns carrying the str- teher. Again they waited on me to give the command to leave and carry the dead body to the burg, a distance of over half a axile. We left the fatal scene where my buddy's life blood had mel- ted the four inches of snow under the tree -top and already his blood-stained clothes were freezing. Along the way, we left a blood -colored trail which was visible so long as snow remained on the ground. Soon we arrived at the boarding house on the main street of the burg. No one knew if there was a funeral home or not so I walked into the boarding- house. First I had to break the news to the home people, which was most heart -breaking to them. It was some time be- fore the mistress could give Huron County School Area No. 1 To those who supported me at the polls, my sincere "thank you".
