holidays with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Westlake.

Clinton Hospital on Sunday and
report that she is getting along

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ducharme
and family, of Riverside, and

end with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Ducharme. Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Siemon of Goder-
ich also visited them on Sat-
urday.

Marie returned from Clinton
hospital to their home on Tues-
day.

Plans for a banquet in honor
of the assembly officer will be
held January 5, 1966, with the
banquet in Carmel Presbyter-
ian Church, Hensall.
Gerald Volland, an employee
of Mickle's mill, had the mis-
fortune to fracture his left arm
last Wednesday in an accident
at the mill, X-rays were taken
at South Huron Hospital, Exe-
ter. Gerald is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Volland.

drawn for Saturday night at
Taylor's Ready -to -Wear, Hen-
sall, and the winners were: Mrs.
Viola McNichols, Hensall; Mrs.
Ella Drysdale, Hensall.
Incoming reeve Mrs. Minnie
Noakes drew the lucky tickets.
The cakes are an annual pro-
ject of the Hensall Kinette
Club, which help the Kinettes
to serve the community's great-
est need, and they express their
appreciation and thanks for the
splendid response to this pro-
ject by the citizens.

Deliver Cheer
Thirty-seven Christmas pack-
ages and two bouquets of flow-
ers were delivered to shut-ins
of Hensall United Church, on
Tuesday evening, by the friend-
ship and visitation committee
of Hensall United Church. In
charge of the project were Mrs.
Pearl Passmore, convenor; Mrs,
Harvey Keys, Mrs. Robert Drys-
dale, Mrs. E. Chipchase, Mrs.
Byran Kyle, Mrs, Joe Ferguson.
Euchre Party
A successful euchre was held
Friday evening in the Lodge
Hall with 10 tables in play,
sponsored by the CP&T com-
mittee of the Oddfellows and
Rebekah lodges. Winners were:
Ladies' first, Mrs, Ross Richard-
son, RR 1, Zurich; gents' first,
Gerald McFalls, Exeter; lone
hands, Bill Ford, Exeter. In
the draw for a bushel of apples,
Mrs. Gerald McFalls, Exeter,
was the winner. Christmas cake
was won by Jack Brintnell, RR
1, Cromarty.
Wins Award
Jerry Drysdale, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert J. Drysdale,
Hensall, has been awarded the
Price Brothers and Company
scholarship of $250, for very
satisfactory work in forestry
at the University of New Bruns-
wick, Fredericton, during the
past year.
Carmel Church Notes
Arnold Circle will meet Mon-
day evening, December 18, in
the church school room, when
installation of 1966 officers will
take place. All the ladies of
the church are invited to view
colored slides of Mrs. J E. Mc-
Ewen's trip to Europe, United
States and the World's Fair.

seau, Mrs. Homer Campbell;

Opens Seaso
Two Hensall minor hockey
teams open their season on
Friday night in the Hensall
Arena.
In the first game, at 7 p,m.
the Hensall Bantams will play
hosts to the Mitchell Bantams.
The Hensall squad has been
working out for several weeks
now under the management of
George Parker.
The second half of the twin -
bill will see the Hensall Mid-
gets play host to the Mitchell
Midgets, In charge of the Hen-
sall Midget entry is Ken Park-
er.

The eighth and final meeting
of the Thrifty Kippenettes, with
Miss Liddiard, home economist,
as guest was held at the home
of Mrs, E. F. Durst, RR 4, :Sea -
forth, with all members present.
The meeting opened with the
4-H pledge. The roll call,
"Something I have learned from
this course", was answered by
the members. The minutes of
the last meeting were read by
Marilyn Durst.
Discussion centred around the
demonstrations to be held on
Achievement Day. Miss Liddi-
ard checked the sewing done
by the girls. Lunch was served,
The meeting closed with the
singing of "God Save the
Queen",

Introduction of new, high-
yield savings certificates has
been announced by the Bank of
Montreal.
The certificates are available
in multiples of $10 in amounts
up to $50,000 and are discounted
25 per cent to reach face value
after six years. This represents
an interest rate of 4,85 per cent
compounded semi-annually, or
a simple interest rate of 5.55
per cent.
The certificates earn interest
on a graduated scale starting
six months after purchase, to
maturity in six years, when they
are worth full face value,
