County Committee
Discusses Bayfield
Goderich—The public, school
consultative commit t e e, ctf
which Reeve Archie I:tlrering-
ton, of Usborne, is chairman,
in its report to county council
aek.nowledg•ed a Bayfield re-
quest that county area be form-
ed to include the village and
certain parts of Stanley. The
committee met with the coup.
ell of Rayfield on June 15. It
does not recommend action on
this petition, but has agreed to
meet with the municipal coun-
cils concerned and will, if re -
quested, meet with the school
boards concerned,"
Morris Township recommend-
ed that Morris, Brussels, Blyth
and blast Wawanosh be amal-
gamated to form a school area,
provided that schools be sit-
uated in Brussels, Blyth and
13 e 1 g r a v e. The consultative
committee held meetings with
various groups but "makes no
recommendation to council that
an area be established at this
time..
Councils of Ashfield and
Wawanosh had requested the
committee to recommend estab-
lishment of a county area to
include all properties in the
Ashfield Township school area
and the West Wawanosh area.
The committee recommends
this action and that the neces-
sary by-law be passed.
"`We have terrific problems
ahead, and I am not sure we
are doing everything we can at
the moment," said Inspector J.
II. Kinkead, speaking to the re-
port. The economic conditions
in this county make it impera-
tive that we look to the type
of education of the 80s and 90s
for which we have a chance to
plan now. As long as we can-
not absorb our young people
within this part of Canada, it
follows that if we wish to have
them gain employment in a
competitive society. we dare
Inot send them out ill-prepared.
We must have training whereby
children will reach their poten-
tial, and 1 think it is miles off.
We must have assurance that
