Baseball Meeting
Last night eWednesday) a
meeting was held by the Huron -
Perth Baseball League to make
plans for the coming season.
The meeting was held in the
Mitchell Legion Hal. with Zur-
ieh represented. Details will on their own or just too lazy
appear next week. to clo the work that goes with
TV Saturday ; managing a ball club.

markable jokey in the last 20i
However. they will probably be
back again this year because
they have a good minor pro-
gram there and after just re-
viving baseball in Walkerton
last year. they will not likely
let it drop so soon. There are
no other baseball teams in their
area so they will almost have
to enter the Huron -Perth league
if they want to play in a reg-
ular schedule.
The indication of some of last
year's Zurich team is that they
are ready to play another year
just as soon as they find out if
there is going to be a league to
play in. Some of last year's
team from Exeter also have in-
dicated that they would join up
with Zurich if Zurich has a
team.
If enough teams are not en-
tered what will the ball players
do in Zurich. Why don't they
form a town league with two
or three teams? They could
probably get a bye into the OBA
playoffs. By having two or
three teams playing in a town
league and finding some exhi-
bition games with some of the
teams in another league, Zurich
could be ready for playoffs if
they entered.
What ever is to be done it
should be done soon.
Note—Don 'O'Brien called an
unofficial meeting as soon as he
had received a .note from the
league calling a league meeting.
At the meeting it was decided
to enter a team if a league was
formed.
Don also informed those pres-
ent that he would not be able
to manage the team this year.
At Mohawk raceway last week
Scion Gratton came up with an-
other easy victory. The bettors
eter is not going to have a
baseball team. Jim said that
several of their players from
last year would not be available
this season for different rea-
sons. The schoolteachers were
going to summer school and
some other players had moved
away.
To us it looks like the young-
er set in Exeter are either

Softball Registration
Have you a young boy or
girl between 10 and 18 who has
not filled out a certificate to
play minor softball under the
Zurich MAA this summer? If
you have, or if you are one of
these youths who has not filled
out a form, then you better do
so, as soon as possible.
The MAA hopes to have more
than 50 youngsters play ball
this summer and so far that is
about all that have filled out
forms. By the time the players
are bracketed in their age
groups, some of the groups do
not have enough players to
form teams. This is the delay
in organizing.
As soon as enough players
fill out forms the teams can be
made up and the summer sea-
son of ball will start,
Anyone who has not played
softball before will find this
their great chance to learn to
play. Don't wait another year
to start playing softball. Fill
out your certificate and start
now !
Roller Skating
Perhaps the most popular
place Friday and Saturday eve-
nings is the Grand Bend roller
rink. Skating has been going
on for a couple of weeks there
and the crowds have increased
immensely each time out.
Those who don't skate can
have a good time by just watch.
ing and listening to the music.
Horseshoe League
Would you like to play horse-
shoes in a league? If you would
then drop over some night and
tell the boys who are playing
quite a bit behind the Citizens
News building, that you would
like to play. We feel sure that
they would be glad to try and
set up a league of some sort
for the summer months.
