arried 25 Years
Mr. and Mrs. Clendon Chris-
tie, Hensall, celebrated their
25th wedding anniversary on
Tuesday, May 11. They and
their daughter, Catharine Anne,
were entertained at a family
dinner on Monday evening at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam T. Dodds, of McKillop.
The table was beautifully dec-
orated in pink, centred with a
diered wedding cake.
The happy couple were re-
ripients of many lovely gifts,
reards and congratulatory mes-
sages.
Most of the immediate fam-
ilies were present.

Ladies' Champs
The Hensall Hi Lites bowling
team won the "A" champion-
ship playoff trophy, also indi-
vidual trophies for the whole
team, in the Zurich Ladies
Bowling League. Presentations
were made at the banquet at
Dashwood on May 12,
Members of the team were
Hazel McEwan, Iva Reid, Cathy
Bell, Betty Sangster, Dorothy
Mousseau, Janet Lovell, Delores
Schilbe and Margaret Neeb,
Ruth Clausius presented Betty
Sangster with the trophy for
high single, with 316. Presi-
dent Hazel McEwan presented
Mary Taylor with a gift for the
oldest bowler.
Door prizes were donated by
Zurich Bowling Lanes, Hi Fash-
ion Beauty Salon, and the ex-
ecutive of the bowling league.

Rummage Sale
The annual spring rummage
sale, sponsored by Hensall Kin-
ettes, held on Saturday, was
very successful and with ideal
weather prevailing there was a
record crowd. Several cartons
of used clothing not sold were
handed in to the United Church
for their spring bale, to the
Children's Aid Society, and to
the Salvation Army.

Hensall - Chiselhurrst Young
People met together at the Hen-
sall United Church at 8 p.m.
Miss Ann Mickle and her group
were in charge. Eric Ross,
John Goddard and Doug Currie
led the devotional. Miss Jane
Pyette played a piano solo, "My
Lady Greensleeves". Miss Ann
Mickle showed slides of the trip
her family took out west . four
years ago. Their enjoyable
trip came to an end after four
and a half weeks. Miss Mary

Bowling Title
The Zurich Mixed League
wound up its season with a ban-
quet at Dashwood Community
Hall last Saturday.
The Nite Hawks, from Hen-
sall, captured both the league
trophy and the team playoff
trophy.
Members of the team: Hazel
and Hugh McEwan, Phyllis and
Barrie Jackson, Greta and Mur-
ray Baker, and Betty and Jack
Simmons, were presented with
the trophies by the president,
Lorne Hay. Hazel McEWan was
presented with the high aver-
age trophy (193) by Mrs. E.
Laidlaw.
Also present at the banquet
were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Broad-
ley, of Marlette, Michigan, who
were members of the Nite
Hawks prior to their departture
from Hensall.
Payne conducted two games.
Mr. and Mrs. David Blackwell
attended the nurses' graduation
exercises at Thames Hall, Uni-
versity of Western Ontario, Fri-
day evening. Miss Ruth Miller,
their niece, was one of the
graduates of St. Joseph's Hos-
pital. A reception for Ruth
followed at Woodham United
Church.
Mrs. Vern Alderdice under-
went surgery for an appendec-
tomy at Clinton Public Hospital
on Wednesday, May 12.
Mr. Lloyd McLean is a pat-
ient in Victoria Hospital, Lan-
don.
Anniversary services will be
held in the United Church Sun-
day, June 13, at 11 a.m. and
7:30 p.m., 40th anniversary of
church union with guest speak-
er, Dr. Earl S. Lautenschlager
B.A., B.D., D.D., L.L.D. principal
of Emmanuel Theological Col-
lege, Toronto.
Hensall Women's Institute Entertain
Grandmothers at Historical Meeting
Grandmothers were special
guests of Hensall Women's In-
stitute at their historical re-
search meeting held in the Le-
gion Hall, Wednesday evening
and attended by over 50 mem-
bers and guests, who were wel-
comed by president Mrs. Bev-
erly Beaton, who presided. Roll
call: "Who has lived in my
house." In appreciation of her
work on the Tweedsmuir history
and fair exhibits, Mrs. I. M. Peck
was presented with a gift, ad-
dress read by Mrs. N. E. Cook
and presented by Miss Mattie
Ellis.
Plans were made for the an-
nual picnic to be held on the
lawn of Mrs. Garfield Broder-
ick's home the second Wednes-
day in June. Mrs, Robert Elgie
took the chair for the programe.
Mrs. Sherritt introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. W. D. Mack,
of Crediton. who spoke on "His-
torical Research", presenting an
outline of early customs.
Mrs. Edna Caldwell gave an
interesting demonstration of
quilts and home made mats.

lovely in a setting in keeping
with grandmothers' time. Mrs.
N. E. Cook and Mrs. R. M. Peck
formed the reception committee
wearing grandmother's cost-
umes. Delicious refreshments
were served by the lunch corn-
mittee.
