Local Zurich Council Buys Rider
Protection For Personal Injury
Zurich village council has
taken steps to protect them-
selves against charges of libel,
s 1 a n d e r, misappropriation of
funds and defamation of char-
acter, among other things.
Reeve Milton Oesch said he
believed that the "personal in-
jury" rider to the village's ex-
isting Libel Policy would pro-
tect council members in any
event, including charges arising
from news stories in the press.
Cheap Insurance
Council agreed that the addi-
tional $20.56 premium per an-
num would be inexpensive in-
surance over the years,
W. B. Coxon pointed out that
the best insurance was for coun-
cillors and reeves to "weigh
their words carefully" but sup-
ported the move to add the
rider to the policy.
Reeve Oesch said that while
present council members were
able to sit crown and do village
business orderly and in agree-
ment, future councils may not
always be so amicable.
The insurance will he pur-
chased through the J. W. Ha-
berer Insurance Company, Zur-
ich, and the Frank Cowan In-
surance Company, Woodstock.
