THREE News of HENSALL District Mr. Ray Kyle has returned to Bachawana Bay after spending two weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kyle, Sr., enjoy- ing a Christmas and New Year gathering with members of the Kyle family from St. Catharines, ]Montreal, London, Toronto, Zur- ich and Hensall. Twenty-four were present for the Yuletide festivities. Flowers in the United Church sanctuary Sunday last were placed there by the family in memory •of the late Robert M. Peck. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell and David Beaver spent New Years with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mc- Queen. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Oesch en- tertained as their Christmas and New Year's guests, their daugh. ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray McNall, and fancily, of Fergus; Mr. and Mrs, Frank Be- dard, Detroit, Mich. the former a brother df Mrs. Oesch; Miss Bonnie Bell, Blyth, and Miss Shirley Flaxbard, of Zurich, granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Oesch. Mrs. Jean Manson, of Exeter, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell. The CP&T committee of the Hensall I00F and Amber Re- bekah lodges delivered 25 plants to shut-ins of the village over the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Keys and family spent Christmas and Area Youth Enjoy Hensall Meeting Twenty-seven Hensall-Chisel- hurst Young People met recent- ly with Doug Currie and his group in charge of the meeting. Eric Ross, Susan Stinson, Rob- ert McNaughton and Doug Cur- rie took part in the devotional and Suzanne Rannie sang the solo, "God Hath Not Promised". A film, "Freedom in Their Souls", was shown. A record, "Don Lonie Talks Again", was played and was enjoyed by all, many things learned from it. Doug Currie directed two games and Rev. Currie closed with the benediction. Boxing Day in St. Catharines with Mr, and Mrs, Ronald Burt and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Knights, Stewart and Jane; Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, Blenheim, spent the holiday week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell •and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McQueen. Mr. and Mrs, T. Murdock and Jeff, Galt, spent Thursday af- ternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McQueen. Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Bon- thron left Monday for Florida where they will spend the win- ter months. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smith, of Guelph, spent Christmas with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jarrott. Mr. and Mrs. John Soldan and Mike, Zurich; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heppler, Guelph; Mr. and Mrs. John Munn, John and Daniel, London; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tay- lor and Debbie, Exeter, were Christmas Day guests with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoffman, Dash- wood. The Misses Carolyn and Beth Cook, Janice Bonthron, Linda Keys and Linda Hay brought pleasure on Wednesday evening, December 23, by calling on the shut-ins in the village and sing- ing a medley of Christmas carols, a very nice gesture. Mrs. Emma Shepherd has taken up residence at Grand Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shupe, Sar - Obituary Robert M. Peck Residents of Hensall and com- munity were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Robert M. Peck, of Hensall, a promi- nent resident who passed away in South Huron Hospital on Thursday, December 24, having been admitted earlier in the day. The late Mr. Peck, who was in his 73rd year, was born in Stanley Township, where he farmed and was a well-known purebred Shorthorn cattle breeder. He retired to Hensall in 1945 and was a member of Hensall United Church. Surviving: are his wife, the former Grace Elder; three sons, Robert and Harold, RR 1, Zur- ich; John, RR 3, Kippen; two daughters, (Dorothy) Mrs. Frank Elliott, Blyth; (Marion) Mrs. Robert Jackman, Detroit, and 18 grandchildren; one brother, Dr. J. W. Peck, predeceased him in 1925. Public funeral service was held from the Bonthron funeral chapel on Monday, December 28, conducted by Rev. H. F. Currie. Bearers were Elgin McKinley, Clifford Keys, Ron Peck, Doug Cook, Russell Erratt and Harvey Keys. Flower bear- ers were grandsons of the de- ceased: Ron Elliott, Bruce El- liott, Wayne Peck, John Peck, Dale Peck, Larry Peck. Interment was in Bayfield Cemetery. Allan Logan, assisted by the groom's uncle, Rev, Robert Passmore, officiated .at the cere- mony in St. Paul's United Church, Aylmer, when Patricia Ann Armstrong and Kenneth Gerald Passmore exchanged marriage vows. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Armstrong, Aylmer, and the groom is the son of Mrs. W. D, Barnes,, Ayl. mer, and the late Albert Pass- more. The bride chose a full-length gown of French silk cut velvet in an orchid design, with ba- teau neckline and elbow -length sleeves. The controlled skirt below the empire waistline was fashioned with unpressed pleats and a detachable chapel train extending from double bows in back. Robert Passmore, brother of the groom, was best man, and ushers were John Vandewyn- gaerd and Robert Sharpe, Sor travelling the bride wore a paddy green wool two-piece suit with matching hat, grey wool coat with mink collar, and corsage of white orchids. The groom is attending Carle- ton College in Ottawa, where the couple will live. He is the grandson of Mr. John Passmore, Meet At Clinton A meeting held in the Agri. cultural Board Rooms, Clinton, on Wednesday evening, Decem- ber 30, by shareholders of FAME of Stanley and Tucker - smith townships, was largely ate tended. Alex McGregor and Bob Allan chaired the meeting, with Malcolm Davidson repre- senting Stanley Township as their committee man. Carl Hemingway attended representing board of FAME.' After a long discussion, Ross Love, a committee man -at -large for the County of Huron, made the motion that they stand be- hind the board and try and raise all the money they can before January 4.
