Visitors last week with Mr,
and Mrs. George Hess were Mrs.
Irene Little and two sons, Leon-
ard and Vernon, of Biggar,
Sask., and Goward and Bruce
Pettigrew, of Lincoln Park,
Mich. Mrs, Little is a niece of
Mrs. Hess, and the Pettigrew
boys are nephews.
Miss Carolyn Smillie is a pa-
tient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Garnet Allan, who has been
a patient in Victoria Hospital,
London, for the past two weeks
and a half, returned home Sat-
urday,
Plan Cooking School
A board meeting of the Kip -
pen East Women's Institute was
held at the home of president,
Mrs, Vern Alderdice, at which
plans for the cooking school,
with Mrs. Violet Seriver, to be
held in the Hensall Community
Centre on Wednesday, October
7, were finalized,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Snyder, of
Ottawa, were guests of Mrs.
Cornelius Cook and her daugh-
ter, Mrs. George Chelew, at Mrs.
Cook's summer home, "Delmar",
at Grand Bend, August 25 and
26.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Weido
and 1VIr. and Mrs. Orland Rei-
chert spent the week -end at Sil-
ver Lake and Middlebury, In-
diana.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lindsay,
Pamela, Sheila and Kevin, of
Willowdale, are holidaying with
Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lee, Guy,
Dale and Sandra returned to
Picton after spending two
months with the latter's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peters,
and Bonnie.
Resume Meetings
The September meeting of
Unit 4, UCW, under the leader-
ship of Mrs. Janes McAllister,
will be held Thursday, Septem-
ber 3. at 2:30 p.m., with Mrs.
Laird Mickle and Mrs. Simi
Raabe' in charge of the meet -
Obituary
John Pfaff
Public funeral service for the
late John Pfaff was held from
the Bonthron funeral hone,
Hensall, Tuesday, conducted by
the Rev. D. Fry, of Seaforth.
Interment was in Hensall Union
Cemetery.
The late Mr. Pfaff, of Lon-
don, formerly of Hensall, passed
away at Mason Villa Hospital,
London, on Sunday, in his 86th
year.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Clara Gaetz, of Kit-
chener; three daughters, (Kath-
leen) Mrs. John Neil, Kitchener;
Mrs. Helen Tebbutt, London;
(Ruby) Mrs, Alvin McNichol,
Landon; 10 grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren. A son
Nelson passed away suddenly in
1962.

Edith McLellan, of United
Church Training School staff at
Five Oaks. A good attendance
is requested and the ladies of
the congregation are invited to
attend.

Milton Love, who has been a
patient in Victoria Hospital, has
returned home.
Wins Trophy
Michael Hoy, 13, who attend-
ed the Red Wing hockey school
at the Olympia, Detroit, was
awarded the trophy for the
most proficient defenceman out
of a class of 70 boys, 13 and 14
years of age. He was coached
by Gordie Howe, Terry Saw -
chuck and Alex Delvechio.
Miss Annie Rendall, Miss
Hazel Rendall, Mrs. Bess Milne
and Miss Ruby Milne, of Platts-
ville; Mrs. Walter Moffat, Bruce -
field; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love,
Kippen; Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Keys, Exeter, were Sunday
guests with Mr. and Mrs. 3. E.
McEwen.
Mr. and Mrs. John Soldan, Pa-
trick and Michael, and Mr. and
Mrs. Lionel Wilder spent Tues
day at the CNE, Toronto.
Miss Christine McRae, of Tul-
lahoma, Tenn., was a guest this
week with the Misses Dorothy,
Linda and Shelley Kipfer.
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle
spent last Friday in Ridgetown,
guests of Mr. and Mrs. George
A. Mickle.
Miss Susan Goman, of Guelph,
spent a few days last week holi-
daying with Miss Ann Mickle.

Hensall Couple
Attend Event
Mr. and Mrs. William Cle-
ment, Jr., of Hensall, attended
a family dinner Saturday night
at the Blue Barn, Listowel, in
honor of the golden wedding
anniversary of the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. William Cle-
ment, Sr., of Elmira.
The couple held "open house"
at their home, afternoon and
evening, on Wednesday, August
26. Brenda Clement, 4, of Hen-
sall, a granddaughter, was in
charge of the guest book.
Mr. and Mrs, Clement were
former Clinton residents.

Honour Bride
Mrs. Roland Vanstone enter-
tained at her home Thursday
evening in honour of Miss Mar-
lene Reid, bride -elect of Sep-
tember, when 20 friends of the
guest of honour presented her
with a kitchen shower.
The presentation address was
read by Mrs. Vanstone, and gifts
were presented by Peggy Van -
stone and Patricia Parke.
The home decorations were
in pink and white motif. Miss
Diane Reid conducted contests.

Goes To B.C.
Miss Jean Henderson, Hen-
sall, who was on the staff of
Holmesville Central School for
two years, leaves by plane Mon-
day for Kitkatla, B.C,, where
she will teach grade III at the
Anglican Indian Mission School,
There are five teachers on the
staff and some 185 pupils.
Kitkatla is situated on a
small island off the coast of
B.C,, 47 miles southwest of
Prince Rupert, B.C. There are
five hundred Indians on the
island, and the five teachers
and minister and family are the
only white people there. A
boat arrives every two weeks
with mail and supplies. Only
access to the island is by plane
and boat.
Jean is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, John Henderson, Hensall.

eter Park Sunday, August 16,

sall, on his 77th birthday.

luck supper, conducted by Bes-
sie Luker, Emma Campbell and
Gertie Moir. They presented
Mr. Love with a box of choco-

Married in :Hensall United Church
A lovely wedding of wide in-
terest was• solemnized in Hen-
sall United Church, Saturday,
August 22, at 3 p.m., when Rev.
Harold F. Currie united in mar-
riage Emily Jane Horton, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Hor-
ton, and Alan Charles Busche,
son of Mr. and Mrs. G. M.
Busche, Exeter.
Mrs. John Turkheim, of Zur-
ich, provided traditional wed-
ding music and accompanied
the soloist, Miss Jean Hender-
son, of Hensall, who sang "The
Lord's Prayer" and "The Wed-
ing Prayer".
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride looked stun-
ning in her floor -length wedding
gown of white French peau de
soie. The bodice was highlight-
ed by a shallow scooped neck-
line and long lily -point sleeves.
Elegance was portrayed in the
gently controlled bell skirt fall-
ing from a princess waist. The
most delicate guipure lace en-
hanced an empire cut. The
main centre of attention was
focused on the delicate sweep
train cascading from an empire
back from a tailored bow. To
complete her bridal outfit, the

cade of dark pink roses and ivy.
Maid of honor, Miss Xandra
Busehe, sister of the groom,
Exeter, chose a costume of light
green peau de sole, controlled
skirt, matching cummerbund
and carried a bouquet of light
pink gladioli, Bridesmaids Mrs.
Berlin (Ann) MacLean, Exeter,
and Miss Catherine Vickers,
Newmarket, were gowned iden-
tical to the maid of honor, and
carried bouquets of light pink
glads.
Neil Busche, Toronto, attend-
ed the groom, and Douglas
Busche, Kingston, and Bruce
Horton, Hensall, ushered guests.
For the reception for 70
guests, held in the church par-
lors, the bride's mother wore a
shantung dress with matching
accessories, with corsage of
pink roses and white carnations.
The groom's mother chose a
blue figured dress, with light
beige accessories and wore a
corsage of yellow and white
roses.
For their wedding trip to
EasternOntario, the bride wore
a navy blue and white dress
with navy accessories with
which she wore a corsage of
white gardenias. They will re-
side in London.
The bride is a graduate of
Western University and the
groom a graduate of Hamilton
Institute of Technology.

London, St. Catharines, Sarnia,
Kingston, Detroit, Port Dover,
Newmarket, Kitchener, Toronto,
Chatham, Palmerston, Seaforth,
Clinton, Exeter, Brucefield and
