(This is the second time this season that representatives from the Toron- to organization failed to show up at hockey banquet in West- ern Ontario. A couple of weeks ago, Eddie Shack was to have been the guest at Blyth, but he failed to make an appearance there.) Due to the absence of the guest speaker, Mr. Oakes spoke briefly congratulating the team on winning the Ontario title. He also stated that the good crowds which have been attend- ing the games during the past years have been a great help to the players. Mr. Oakes was introduced by Mr. Reaburn, and thanked on behalf of the team by Steve Kyle. For the councils of Hensall and Zurich, Harold Knight pre- sented each member of the team with a small gift, in appre- ciation of the honour brought to the two communities. Manager George Beer and coach Bob McKinley presented each player with an attractive leather jacket, in honour of their winning the Ontario title. Each player was also given a photo of the group. Bill Shaddiek and Bruce Hor- ton, on behalf of the players, presented a gift to both Beer and McKinley, as a token of their appreciation. The dinner at the banquet was served by a group of volun- teer ladies, who turned over the profits from the venture to the Crippled Children's Society.
