She was assisteed by Mrs. James Hayter and Mrs. Robert Hayter. Group 2, with Mrs. Lorne Becker convenor. was in charge of the program, closing devo- tions. and lunch. Misses Janice and Joanne Hayter favoured with a solo and piano selections. The president, Mrs, Milford 1V[erner, dealt with the business. Mrs. Albert Miller is to be in charge of swing bowling. Mrs. Lorne Becker, Mrs, Albert Ra- der and Mrs. Leonard Schenk were appointed a committee to arrange a bus trip to Niagara Falls. Reports were heard from the treasurers. Mrs. Rudolph Miller had a good assortment of cards for sale. The next meet- ing will be in September. Ray VanDorsselaer has re- turned home from St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Burke and daughter, of Brampton, are vis- itors with Milt Haugh. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart, of London, spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gaiser and Kim. Pupils Enioy Trip Grades 3 to 8 of Dashwood CAMP GLEN MAC GIRL GUIDE BUILDING — The construction of the new 24 x 30 ft. Girl Guide building at Camp Glen Mac, near Seaforth, get a helping hand from Jack Simmons, Tom Lavender, Roily Vanstone, Jack Laven- der, all of Hensall; Tom Worthington, of Centralia; Bill Fuss and Jack Drysdale, also of Hensall. The new building, which is being erected by voluntary labour from neighbouring communities, will supply Girl Guides and Brownies from Huron area with a much needed shelter. Present plans are to have the building completed by the first of July. S/L John MacDonald, of Centralia, is in charge of the construc- tion of the building. Rev. and Mrs. Merrill James were called to Ottawa last week due to the death of Mrs. James' brother-in-law, Mr. Basil Smith, of Montreal. Mrs. Harold Kellerman is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London, where she underwent surgery. Plan Cook School The June meeting of Kippen East W.I. was held at the home of Mrs. Arthur Finlayson. The president, Mrs. Vern Alderdice, opened the meeting with the singing of the Opening Ode fol- lowed by the Mary Stewart Collect. It was decided to hold the cgoking school on October 7, afternoon and evening, with Mrs. Schriber in charge. The motion to appoint Mrs. Maude Hedden, of Hensall, to be in charge of cook book sales in Hensall, carried. The ladies expressed appreci- ation of the fine job the print- ers in Zurich made in publish- ing the thirthieth anniversary cook books. Mrs. William Caldwell chaired the home economics meeting when the 4-H Club girls, Anne Keinhaar, Donno Whitehouse, Gwen McLean, Donna Stoll, Diane Stoll, Thea Van Niekerk, Ruth Coleman, Karen Sararas and Doris Riley, modelled the blouses they had made during the last club. Anne Keinhaar commented on the exhibit, "A well planned costume for church". Miss P. Damude, Huron home economist, introduced by Mrs. William Caldwell, spoke on 4-H Club work. Mrs. Alderdice con- ducted a contest, the losing group singing, "Good Night Ladies". The meeting closed by sing- ing God Save the Queen, and lunch was served by the host- esses and committee in charge, Mrs. Finlayson, Mrs. R. Gem - moll, Mrs. Alex McGregor, Mrs. William Caldwell, Mrs. James McNaughton, Mrs. C. Pullman. Hold Shower For Stratford Bride A miscellaneous shower for Ellen. Gilbert, of Stratford, was held at the home of Mrs. Clif- ford Pepper with about 35 guests present. Hostesses were i Mrs. William Haugh, Mrs. Aryls Rader and Mrs. Laura Pepper. Contests were conducted by Doris Pepper. The address was read by Mrs. Pepper and Dianne Rader pulled in the decorated wagon loaded with gifts. Ellen thanked her friends in a few chosen words.
