Cooper ended up in first place with 93 points, consisting of 49 goals and 44 assists, while his line -mate had 91 points, made up of 51 goals and 40 assists, In third place on the Com- bines line-up, as well as the Shamrock league, was Bill Shad - dick, who scored 34 goals and hacl 38 assists for a total of 72 points. Mrs. Len Erb opened the meeting with prayer and an Easter message. The devotional period was taken by Mrs. Nancy Koehler, Mrs. Mary Hoffman, and Miss Jane Lamont. Easter readings were given by Mrs. 0. Greb and Mrs. M. Hoffman. .A playlet taken from the study book, "My Brother Is a Strang- er". explained many of the race and color problems in churches. A chorus by the committee and a duet by Mrs. Harold Rader and Mrs. A. Amacher concluded the program. Delegates were appointed to attend the missionary conven- tion in Hamilton in April. At the close of the meeting a social half hour was spent. 0 Obituary Clare Melick A resident of this area for most of his life, Clarence How- ard Melick passed away in South Huron Hospital, on Thursday, March 5. He was in his 53rd year. Well-known throughout the area as a Watkins agent, Mr. Melick was born in Hay Town- ship on November 25, 1911, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Al- fred Melick. For a few years he resided in Komoka, before returning to Zurich last fall, where he purchased a home. Surviving are his wife, the former Della Smith, whom he married in 1940; one son, Mel- vin Alfred, at home; one broth- er, Gladwin, Goderich; three sisters, Mrs. Lennis (Lyle) Cal- fas, Kitchener; Mrs. Ed (Ortha) Geiger, Pigeon, and Mrs. Morris (Gladys) Neil, Dearborn; also a step -mother, Mrs. Pearl Melick, Zurich.
