MeCloy, and family, Toronto. Mrs. Martha Harvey, who has been a patient at Queensway Nursing Home here, was -trans- ferred to Iluronviow, Clinton, on Monday of: this week. Vacationers to Florida from Hensall and district returned home by Washington to visit the grave of the late President John F. Kennedy at Arlington Cemetery, whose grave they said was covered with fresh flowers every day, and guarded. Mrs. George Armstrong is en- joying a vacation in Florida, in company with her sister, Miss Mary Buchanan, Reg.N., of To- ronto. Mr, Fred Bonthron is a pa- tient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Miss Margaret Smith, bride - elect of Saturday, March 21, was honored at a miscellaneous shower held at the home of the groom's sister, Mrs. Frances Fodor, London, on Friday, Feb- ruary 28, attended by 17 rela- tives and friends of the groom - elect, Richard Tipping, of Lon- don. Margaret was presented with many lovely gifts. A rec- reation of games were enjoyed and lunch served. Regular meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge was held in the lodge rooms Wednesday 4, with Noble Grand Mrs. Clarence Volland presiding. Cards were sent to several shut-ins and some of the members were re- ported ill. After lodge a social evening of euchre was played. Hold Guest Night Guest night was observed by Unit 2 of the UCW at their March meeting, under the lead- ership of Mrs. Edison Forrest, who opened with a poem and prayer. Mrs. Wes Richardson gave the devotional, assisted by Mrs. Byran Kyle. The study on `India" was presented by Mrs. Jack Corbett. Mrs. Dave Kyle read Easter poems, and follow- ing the meeting •a social hour of •crokinole was enjoyed, and luncheon served. Many at Euchre A very successful euchre, sponsored by the CP&T •com- inittee of Amber Rebekah Lodge Wednesday evening, had eight tables in play for the euchre, and winners were: ladies, Mrs. 1)esjarcline, Zurich; Mrs, Nellie Riley, Iiensall; gents, Rodger Veneer, Hensall; Mr. Desjar- dine, Zurich; lone hands, Mrs. Itoss Richardson, Zurich; lucky cup, Mrs, Nellie Riley. In the draw for a box of groceries, Mrs. Blighton Ferg was the lucky winner; box of chocolates, Mrs. Asa Deevos. On the 17 of March a box social and cards will be held. Carmel CGIT The CGIT of Carmel Presby- terian Church met on Wednes- day evening with Mrs. Harry Hoy in charge. Miss Patricia Moir led the worship period and Mrs. Hoy had the Missions. Miss Lois Wright presided over the meeting in the absence of their president. The group ac- cepted at invitation from the Arnold Circle to attend their Easter Thank -offering Service on March 16. Assist in Carnival Pauline and Ann Bell took part in the carnival on Friday in Goclerich Arena, sponsored Obituary Mrs. Roy Bell Funeral service for the late Mrs. Roy Bell, of RR 1, Hensall, was held on Friday, conducted by Rev. J. C. Boyne, of Caven Presbyterian Church, Exeter. Burial was in Exeter cemetery. Bearers were Neil Campbell, William IL Bell, Ron Bell, Jack Bell, Bob Bell and Clarence Knight. Floral tributes were lovely, Mrs. Bell, the former Ruby Evelyn Stone, 49, died suddenly at her farm home half -a -mile south of Hensall, on Highway 4, on Wednesday, March 4. She was a member of Carmel Pres- byterian Church, Hensall, and an active member of the Arnold Circle. Surviving are four sons, Jim and Murray, Exeter; Graham and Bill, at home; one grand- son; her mother, Mrs. Eunice Stone, Exeter; two sisters, Mrs. Irwin Ford, Exeter; Mrs. Wil- liam Chambers, Clinton. Unit 4 UCW Holds Meeting Unit 4 of UCW met Thursday afternoon for their March meet- ing under the leadership of Mrs, James McAllister, with Mrs. W. B. Cross presiding, opening with meditation. and hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross", Mrs. E. Rowe gave the devo- tional appropriate to the Len- ten season. A chorus composed of Mrs. Ernie Chipchase, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs, N. E. Cook, Mrs. Melville Traquair, Mrs. Sim Roobol and Mrs. Wilbert Dilling sang a number entitled, "He Cares". Miss Greta Lam- mie was accompanist. Mrs. Chipchase commented on the tender, loving story con- tained in the last three chapters of the study book "From Brah- ma to Christ". Visiting the sick and shut-ins was discussed. A report was read from the quilting convener, Mrs. George Armstrong, stating that nine quilts had beeen com- pleted, and expressing appreci- ation to the ladies for their fine work and giving so generously of their time, highlights being the pot -luck dinners and after- noon teas. It was announced that the Presbyterial will be held in James Street United Church, Group Observes Thinking Day The First Hensall Brownies celebrated "Thinking Day" by lighting candles in memory of Brownies, all over the world. After. Happy Birthday was sung Exeter, Wednesday, March 18, with morning and afternoon sessions. Next general meeting of the UCW will he held Monday eve- ning, April 13, when Chisel- hurst, Goshen, :Kippen UCW, along with ladies of Carmel Presbyterian Church and St. Paul's Anglican Church, Hen- sall, will be special guests. Park, of Wesley -Willis United Church, Clinton, presi- dent of London Conferecne, will be guest speaker, for Lady Baden Powell, District Commissioner Mrs. Thomas Lav- ender showed pictures and pre- sented a recorded interview with Lady Baden Powell, the World Chief Guide. In the Fairy Ring, Kathy Cook and Melonie Veal were enrolled as Brownies by Tawny Owl Mrs. John Drysdale. Mrs, Lavender presented the following badges: Golden Bars to Jill Drysdale, Karen Broderick, Sheila Sang- ster and a Golden Hand to Wendy Webster. House Orderly badges were received by Ann Keys, Wendy Webster, Suzanne Sinkeer and Ann Bell. Wendy Webster re- ceived her Skater's badge. Toy - makers and Knitters badges went to Ann Bell. After the ceremony "birth- day" cupcakes and chocolate milk were served to end a hap- py and successful meeting.
