The Ladies Aid of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, held their April
meeting last Tuesday evening, with
36 members present. Mrs. Lorne
Rader took charge of devotions.

Fibrosis Foundation, and Mr. Whit-
ney Brokenshire showed a film, on
the care of patient's suffering with
this disease.
Mrs, Brokenshire, the president,
took charge of the business. All
three groups reported on their
work for the past month, and the
visiting committee reported mak-
ing 19 calls.
A letter was read from the Wo-
men's Auxiliary, of Waterloo Lu-
theran University, requesting a
membership drive of all ladies of
the congregation. Membership fee
or a donation is to be paid to the
treasurer, Mrs. Charles Thiel.
A cash donation was made to the
fund of the Cystic Fibrosis Found-
ation. The meeting closed with
the singing of the hymn,

Warns About Fraud
(By .1. Carl Hemingway)
Are you looking for something
for nothing? If you are, then you
are eligible for somebody's sucker-
list.
Two or three months ago consid-
erable publicity was given to a pro-
motion whereby y o u suddenly
found yourself the winner of about
$1,000 worth of household equip -
Ment. Of course you had to ans-
wer some questions and supply a•
list of prospects.

A negotiated price will be agreed

above this price the marketing
In the end you paid $250 to $300
for your prize, which has been val-
ued at about $150.
Apparently a new racket has de-
veloped in a household item at a
price of about $240. You pay a
small down payment and agree to
pay the further monthly instal-
ments to cover the purchase. How-
ever, the whole deal really won't
cost you a cent and perhaps you
will make a hundred since you give
the promoter 20 names of prospects
and he will surely sell to at least
hall of them and will pay you $25
on each sale. At this point you will
have the item and be $10 ahead.
Of course there could be 20 sales
thus giving you $260. Isn't that
just dandy!
Let's suppose there are 100 fam-
ilies in the area. Five can supply
the 20 names but the other 95 will
find themselves hooked with an im-
possible proposition since all the
names have already been used. This
is just the modern chain letter rack-
et. Shall we say "A word to the
wise?"
A meeting of poultry producers
is to be held in the Lord Simcoe
Hotel, Toronto, on April 11, at
9:30 a.m. At this meeting, the egg
marketing plan will be presented
for approval. There has been some
disagreement as to the legal term-
inology which may have to be ov-
ercome but in speaking to Everett
Biggs on the subject he assured me
that if producers show strong agree-
ment in reasonable numbers these
difficulties will be taken care of.
Basicly, the marketing plan is
the same as that proposed at the
December meeting. It is pattern-
ed after the white zean and Ontar-
io wheat plans, in that a deduction
will be taken to finance the organ-
ization and to supply money to pro-
vide an equalization fund for the
purchase of surplus for export.
