FRED DUCHARME, Correspondent -1 Mr. Andrew Ducharme of Bres- cia Hall, London, and Miss Marg- uerite Ducharme, also of London, spent Sunday last with parents and relatives on this highway. The mild spell of the past week- end and the thaw was much wel- comed; especially by farmers who were hard hit for water. It has meant the disappearance of much of the snow; and all of that will give hope for springtime. The recent easterly winds have made a clean sweep of ice on Lake Huron. The act is kind of tricky for the fishermen, and many dollars worth of nets have been swallowed by the movement when least ex- pected. Today it is not an excep- tion as the years gone by, when there were hundreds of nets expos- ed to the weather on the surface of the frozen water. The lose to- day is not so violent for there are fewer nets out; however there are still a few today and for them it will mean the same as for those of years ago. The consolating part of fishing, is when they are not victims them- selves on the shifting ice.
